Neighbourhood: Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Aslan is the absolute best.
First time in Istanbul, and good thing I check with Tripadvisor for guidance when traveling. Aslan Gift Shop has very good reviews, and it wasn't until I went there myself, that I am fully convinced that this is the most underrated shop in Istanbul.
The shop owner and his business partner are very accommodating for questions amd assistance, and they give you enough space to discover their items and pick in peace. Prices are labelled, and they do not cheat you. The shop has a wide variety of legitimate arts, souvenirs, gifts for anyone, traditional craft, with great quality and local prices.

But the most astonishing experience happened when they took the time to help me get back to my hotel. It was the hottest day at 41°c, I am 5'4", petite and very weak at geography. They help explain that it was better to take the train at this time, and that it would be faster. Fatir (the shop attendant and business partner) even gave me his metrocard with enough load, gave me two bottles of cold water, and carried my 15 liter sized shopping bag for me while carfully reminding me of the directions. It was that day that kindness won, and the Turkish warmth and generosity won me over. I thanked him and we parted ways. He was happy to be kind to someone who needed help. I came back the next day with my family for more shopping, and they were also very warm towards my huband, and chat with my son. Sure, The Grand Bazar is popular for shopping, but if you want peaceful shopping without having to haggle, honest, quality gifts for family and friends, value for money: please go to Aslan first, and the surrounding stores are also great for spices, trukish delight, restaurants, and perfume oil...and then go to the Grand Bazar for the sport of haggling.
If you also want a place to stay that's safe and clean, check out ASLAN HOME APART right above the store.

The shop sells plenty choices of gifts, I was looking for fridge magnets, they sell at reasonable price 20TRY for 4pcs.

I was also wondering if they sell stamps, in Istanbul it’s not easy to get stamps in any shops, only post office sells it. I went to one post office that day but they are out of stamp, then I went to the grand post office but I was few minutes late and they have closed.

The guy in this store, Faher if I remember his name correctly offered to help me to send the postcards on behalf, I just paid him the price of stamps. Awesome. Hopefully all the postcards will reach to the recipient.

Amazing service, offered lots of help, really cool items with amazing prices. Bought many souvenirs to take to Canada. Aslan even walked 40 minutes to resize my ring in the evening. ❤

Really nice owner and a variety of well priced trinkets and souvenirs! Got some lovely bracelets to take home for my friends for a bargain price. It’s also situated opposite the best kebab shop in town so it is worthwhile paying a visit to both.
