The bust of Rabindranath Tagore is located in Park Khafiza Sherozi on Bukhoro Street. This area is easily reached by trolleybus 1 or 2 and Bus 3a, 8 or 23,to the Amonat bank bus stop on Rudaki Avenue. Walk north on Bukhoro Street, past the Indian Embassy and the bust of Mahatma Ghandi on the right until a small park is seen. There is a low three tiered tiled platform, on which the columnar shaped pedestal is installed. On top of the pedestal is the bust of Tagore. The pedestal has the name of the poet, years of his life (1861-1941) and the year of installation of the monument i.e. 2015. The inscriptions on the base were in Tajik and English. The bearded figure of Tagore, has traditional Indian robes around his shoulders. Tagore was the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913. He was knighted by the British two years later, but he later gave it up in protest about the British policies in India. He was educated in England, and on his return to India, opened a school which taught a mix of Indian and Western subjects. He was a teacher at the school which eventually grew into Visva-Bharati University. He was a brilliant poet and writer of short stories, who was able to translate his works into English, thus was well received in the West. His words were used as the national anthems for India and Sri Lanka. He was a close friend of Mahatma Ghandi and campaigned for freedom from British rule.He is also known as "The Bard of Bengal" or Bhonita. He was also a talented painter, which was a skill that he didn't practice until in his 60's. He died in Kolkata in 1941, but is still revered today. We thought it was great to see Indian history on display in Dushanbe, and were pleased that the monument and it's surroundings were well maintained. After visiting this site, if you take a right on Mirzo Tursunzoda Street, the Park of another great poet, Alisher Navoi can be visited. The Opera Square and Theatre are a short walk south from Navoi Park.

This is a nice park if you are in the area. It has beautiful trees and a statue to a former leader. It is nothing to go out of your way for. But if you need to sit down it is a pleasant area. There are a lot of college students who pass through here. Good during day, may have mischief at night.
