Stylish entertainment centre in the heart of Astana
Khan Shatyr is a stylish tent-shaped entertainment centre close to Lovers Park in the heart of Astana. The centre was designed by UK Architect Norman Foster and is one of the many interesting landmarks in the city, it was unveiled by Nursultan Nazarbayev in December 2006. We visited Khan Shatyr a number of times on our visit to Astana, it is definately worth exploring.

    Khan shatyr
Nice place can easily reach by taxi . Beautiful building especially at night. Major brand are there. Freewifi. However despite being a big mall doesn't any currency exchange but do have some ATM machines in ground floor. Not easy to operate because of the language. Other then information desk no one speak English. If you need to exchange currency then have to go to near by cash market its about 25 -30 minutes walk. Google will show banks in and near Khan shatry but they all were closed year back so there are no more there.

    Tipi-shaped shopping centre.
This tipi-shaped Khan Shatyr shopping center (51.131655, 71.404006) is located at the end of Nurzhol Boulevard. Downstairs, there are ATMs, of which one was operational, but it only dispensed large bills. There was a souvenir shop with a decent collection of souvenirs. Unfortunately, it was challenging to find a place to sit at a table along the railing with a view of the central area. The shopping center was a bit disappointing. NIce for kids.

There are only a few reasons to visit this shopping center : you need to do shopping, you're run out of things to do in Astana, or you want to see a Norman Foster project.

This is a big mall, something I don't usually visit during my travels but when it is -20 celcius outside, it is not a bad idea after all. Top floor seem to have interesting attractions (I think I saw a pool, dinosaur theme park, a ride on rail etc). The architecture is also a bit different, and considering Nur Sultan being a very new city, this place would probably qualify as a city attraction.

Everything from grocery shopping to entertainment and fitness, this mega-mall is one-of-a-kind. I rode a bicycle there, so I cannot speak about parking. It seems like a bit of a walk for anyone focused on spending time in the city. Plenty of security and family friendly.

Very nice and big shopping mall. There are a lot of shops and also a swimming pool at the top of the shopping mall. The shape is beautiful and during the night is illuminated

Inside the Khan Shatyr is a pretty nice shopping mall. But even if you aren't going to shop there, it is worth visiting up close to take pictures of it. There really isn't anything like this in the world, at least to my knowledge.
