We went to the 6.15 show, arrived at 6. There were plenty of seats at that stage but it filled quickly. We were in the front row having paid less than a dollar extra, it's worth it. You also get a CD of the music,...More

The only redeeming quality of this atrocious spectacle is the laughs. Unfortunately, the comedy is unintentional. The show basically consists of creepy, broken cardboard dolls being blindly flailed across the surface of stagnant, dirty water for an hour. The "stories" are virtually incomprehensible - a...More

The water puppet show is like nothing you’ve ever seen before. The puppets move and act in ways you wouldn’t think and the show is very visually entertaining. The only downside is that he show is completely in Vietnamese. While it’s interesting to listen to...More

We decided to do this because it seemed to be the ‘done thing’ in Hanoi. We weren’t sure what to make of it, but it exceeded all expectations. The musicians and puppeteers were amazing. It’s a wonderfully warm, funny and moral story. Well worth the...More

Appauling customer service. We were stood at the box office counter for 5 mins while the lady continued her conversation with another person behind the box office. So incredibly rude!

Excellent, so much fun and very clever and colourful. Children would love it. Didn’t go for too long only about 40 minutes.

We came to the Thang Long Water Puppet Theater at around 4pm without a reservation on a weekday, and apparently the 5pm and 6pm shows are fully booked (we took the 4:10 pm one because we had a baby and the next free time was...More

All tough we didn’t understand Vietnamese, we did understand the meaning of the theatre and also could understand the story. Amazing how they do this! With the music and the singing, it is a must see show. Just a Remarque: don’t bring little children, for...More

First time watching the water puppet show. Didn’t know that there are water puppet performances before I came to Vietnam. Pretty amazing how the puppeteers can control the puppets and manoeuvre them for the performance in the water stage. Nice show and a must watch...More

If you want to see something really spectacular in Hanoi, go for the puppet show. Very old tradition based in rural life. You certainly have never seen anything like it before.

No idea. But you can ask. Tickets were 100, 150 or 200k dong...the closer to the stage the more expensive . 200k is£7 so knock yourself out for the best seats in the house.
