After walking around for an hour along the perimeter without seeing a sign of any kind we finally asked a police officer. They were everywhere! Everything in the area is closed he told us. No tourists allowed and we didn’t see any tourists. He said...More

This is the first European style park in Thailand. Beautiful teak mansions, including the world's largest golden teak building - Vimanmek mansion.

After walking around the perimeter of this "top attraction" we found no entrance into the park. Any staff we spoke to gave us instructions to essential walk a long distance to the next entrance, each time insisting we had to pay into the zoo, which...More

An armed guard at the entrance told me that Vimanmek Palace is still closed so I got back in the taxi and headed around the hoardings to the next entrance where, thankfully, the beautifully twinkly Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall was twinkling away in the sun....More

We went all the way to visit Vimanmek Palace only to find it was closed for restoration until further notice! So does the Abhishek Dusit Throne Hall. What a disappointment! So we could only visit the Abhishek Samakhorn Throne Hall. What you got was unfriendly...More

The park itself is beautiful but the place is VERY crowded with huge tourist groups and local school children. Majority of the personnel was very unfirendly, shouthing at the tourist crowds -no thai smiles here. You have to leave bags and cameras in locked boxes...More

some of the enclosures were a bit small. Also a bit annoyed by some of the cyclists. But a nicely laid out zoo with all the animals in good shape. Very reasonable entrance price and a great meals centre with a wide variety of choice

Though the place looks lovely, it's disconcerting to see so many military personnel. They don't all speak English, and they don't seem glad to see tourists. So disappointing that after an unsatisfying tour of the gorgeous Vimanmek Mansion (marred by the presence of half the...More
