    Amazing artwork
We had an excellent tour with a guide who spoke very good English. She gave us a run-down of Jim Thompson's life, then led the group through the house (actually five attached buildings). She was very knowledgeable about the architecture, Thompson's lifestyle, and the massive art collection which filled the house and was collected from all over south-east Asia. We next went outside to the gardens, a true oasis in the middle of the city. There was a room which detailed Thompson's life and his influence on the Thai silk industry, and we ended the tour at a large shop selling the silk goods still produced by the factory.
Dear dontravgav, Thank you very much for visiting the Jim Thompson House and taking the time to give us a review of your visit. We hope for the opportunity to welcome you again in the near future. Best Regards, Phenarpa A.

Excellent history lesson and beautiful architecture
Beautiful buildings with lots of historic info. Lynn was an exceptional tour guide, funny, engaging, and informative. Would recommend to anyone in BKK for their first visit. Real close to the river as well!

    It’s not a temple!
Our family of four (17 YO girl and 14 YO boy) visited the Jim Thompson house and museum. The house and the history behind it are worth the visit on their own, but after two full days of visiting temples it was a very welcome change of scenery for the kids. The tour only takes about 45 minutes (there is no A/C but there are a few fans) and it ends in a gloriously air conditioned gift shop. The house is walking distance from several multi-level shopping malls, so you can take the tour when the house opens in the morning and go to the mall for lunch afterwards. They require you to go on a guided tour - the English version was given every 20 or 30 minutes when we were there. Highly recommended!
Dear TGS1969, Thank you very much for visiting the Jim Thompson House and taking the time to give us a review of your visit. Besides the Jim Thompson House you’ll also be able to find our restaurants, Iconic Store, Jim Thompson Art center all located within the Jim Thompson Heritage Quarter which might be of interest to you. Thank you once again for visiting us and we hope to welcome you back here again in the near future. Best Regards, Phenarpa A.

Lovely quite place in a noisy city. Everyone speaks great English here, I even heard staff speaking in Chinese to other costumers. The food was well cook and seasoned definitely Thai, my father actually recommended me this place while I was in Bangkok. I hope to come back here soon with my family :) it’s perfect for anyone at any age.

    Visiting Jim Thompson House
The house and its history are simply unique and somehow unusual in a city like Bangkok. Beautiful place to visit, surrounded by buildings and a canal, but also with a tropical garden inside. It's nice to discover the story of this american business man who made Bangkok his town. The house is actually made of several small wooden houses linked together with magnificent interiors and antiques. An hour to discover something different in suck enormous city.

    Bangkok's Oasis
I visited this place and noticed that it attracts more tourists than locals, despite the fascinating story of the house and the fame of Thai silk-making. Inside are different sections, including a guided tour of the place in foreign languages (English, Chinese, and Japanese), a cafe, a brand shop, and a renovated restaurant. The admission fee is only 200 baht, and the tour lasts 45 minutes. The atmosphere at Jim's in Thompson felt shady as if it's not in Bangkok. The food and drinks at the cafe were alright, but I found the prices a bit high for the portion sizes. On a positive note, there's a rotating exhibition on the second floor of the brand store, and it's free to view.

    Beautiful house and garden
I enjoyed the guided tour with an English speaking guide. The decor and artworks are beautiful and the garden is a great place to relax. I finished the tour with a cold drink at a table next to the fish pond.

    Beautiful house and gorgeous gardens.
The house was lovely with tranquil gardens with koi ponds which provided an island of calm. Jim Thompson had an interesting life but we didn't get that story until nearly the end, despite taking the tour which told us very little about Jim. The museum, which was the last part of the tour gave us the back story and was very well laid out. A minor quibble was that there is no mention of having to take a tour (included in entry price) on the website. We were told when we got there we would have to wait 45 mins for the 1pm. So we had lunch and returned only to be told that tour was full and we would need to return for the 2pm. Had we been told that we would have turned up at the right time and pre-booked. Better information online and at the gate would have been helpful. The art gallery was nice and cold and an interesting building but the exhibition wasn't to my taste being overly modern and incomprehensible.
Dear JAPN, We sincerely thank you for sharing your experience following your visit to the Jim Thompson. We hope to see you again soon for more fascinating discoveries. Best Regards, Phenarpa A.

This is the second time of our visit. We have wonderful time touring around the beautiful charming house with lot of history lead the tour by Ms.Kan who works here for more than 20years. Even it’s our second visit we still fascinated by the beauty and the story of amazing man Mr.Jim Thompson. This time we also bought the book back. After the house tour we visit the restaurant again but this time menu was changed a lot the food still taste very good with more creativity in the menu we are very enjoy our meal with the great hospitality from Mr.Bao at the restaurant. We have fusion inky pad thai with squid, pomelo salad with scallops taste so good. And the highlight is Mr.Bao recommended chu chi black snappers. The fish is super fresh. We are very happy for our visit and will be back for sure.

I arrived to the Museum via a Grab and there was good direction as to what to do. I got into a tour straight away, no waiting.
You do have to do the 45 min tour.
Worth the trip, and can spend around 2 hrs there. Beautiful little place.

Impossible to visit independently. Following a group is really boring and uncomfortable. Not everyone is interested in listening to a guide.

A very well preserved house. Entrance fee is reasonable. Shoes must be removed when walking round. It’s open every day from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with the last guided tour at 5:00 PM. When visiting the main house, customers are not allowed to enter the house without a guide. The museum provides guides in five languages: Thai, English, French, Chinese, and Japanese. The attraction is easily reached by boat ferry, Tuk Tuk or on the BTS transport. An hour and a half is about right to spend here.

I heard a lot of good things about this place. So, I decided to check it out. My Family and I chose to join the tour and learned about the history of its owner and the beautiful property. Our guide was very informative and jolly. The property feels like you’ve stepped back in time. It was very well cared for and maintained. Also bought some silk scarves from their shop and am very happy with the quality. The staff were Friendly and very welcoming. A wonderful place to visit in the city.

Don’t miss a visit to Jim’s house. Guided tour which takes about 45 mins about his life of moving teak houses and his silk business.
Cafe on site or a restaurant if required. Then a large gift shop.

This house and its owner are amazing. I knew nothing about Jim Thompson but left, after our guided tour with a real feel for him and what he was about. The house is simply beautiful. Full ifvglorious items many of which have a story to them. The textiles are out of this world and the garden very relaxing.bthe whole museum is beautifully presented and looked after. A real gem.

Don't miss this house! It's easy to get to on the skytrain, only about 2 mins walk from the national stadium stop. You have to join a guided tour, they'll tell you the time of the next one in your language when you buy your ticket. It's both beautiful and fascinating. Don't miss the arts centre down the lane too, they have really interesting exhibitions and there's a cafe there with more choice and cheaper than the one at the house ;-)
