Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you want to visit the place go to the Bangui Hotel, or the rock club. Do not ever try to wander on the banks at any time it is most likely that you may be robbed or beaten. Apart from that the river has beautiful views and unique african boats made of tree logs can be seen. they are used for fishing and ferrying people across from one country to another

Great view over Congo. The artesanal fish boats, crossing the two margins, are a must. Nice place for some good photos.

Going at Oubangui hotel green area, tourangelle or on the little river island (only from Nov to April) is a great way to spend one or two hours on Sunday afternoon. It is relaxing, you can access by car (ten minutes from the city centre) and the sunset is amazing.

Some friends took also a sightseeing "cruise" on the river: a good occasion if you want to sunbath and eat some local food.

The Oubangui is a very large river that separates the Central African Republic from the Democratic Republic of Congo. This means that it is possible to view Zongo, Congo, from central Bangui.

In Bangui, walking along the river is one of the most pleasant experiences one can have. Also, the few cafes near the river provide some of the nicest places to sit outside and have something to drink. I particularly recommend the outdoor areas of the Hotel Oubangui.

This is not a major tourist attraction, which makes it all the more pleasant. One can watch fishermen and traders getting on with their daily business. There is also a stretch known as Bangui Beach, but swimming in this powerful river with its strong currents is not really recommended, except for excellent swimmers.

Best place to enjoy the river view from the restaurant in Oubangui hotel. The food is not that good, but you can order drink, find nice seat and enjoy the music with the perfect view. Best time to go there would be on the weekend after lunch time, not much you can do in Bangui on the weekend anyway. Also you can get some nice pictures of animals/villagers and statue as souvenirs, bargains from 2000 XAF (USD 4,2) to 1,800 XAF (USD 4) /picture.

Many locals use their dugout canoes to fish on the river. The Congo is on the other side of the river. Paddled water taxis travel back and forth between the countries. Some people harvest manioc along the bank

Learning that entering DRCongo through Kinshasa was not recommended at this time due to disease in the country, we chose to enter via canoe across the Oubangui from Bangui. Navigating customs on both sides of the river is challenging, at best. Negotiating with porters and canoe owners provided excitement for the day, but with a local helper, all went well and we were across and ready to venture on to our destination.
