I absolutely love when you get to discover a place that’s so alive yet so few people know about it… If you’re in Praia for just a couple of days stay right on July 5, that’s the name of the pedestrian street!… And you can walk along to have your choice of local Cape Verde food and drinks at And outdoor café… We day and made friends from Italy and Portugal and had a lovely time! Our cute little boutique hotel was just a block away end it was marvelous…

First visit to Praia. Was shocked at how difficult it was to buy anything that we usually get on holiday. Sun tan lotion, beach bag and towels. Sun tan lotion started at €28 a bottle!! Cabs cheap, food reasonable. Not as many restaurants as we had expected, but good food. Plateau had the most to offer in the way of shopping. Should have visited at the beginning of our holiday.

We visited on a Sunday and the street was almost deserted so it was pleasant to stroll down. Some of the buildings are painted in pastel colours. There were a few shops but only a handful were open on Sunday. Any of the streets on the plateau are worth a wander down to see the colourful buildings, some interesting murals to be found as well.

Nice and busy, many shop options and the market is so full of colours. Would also recommend to see the Church ( Pro-cathedral Nossa Senhora da Graca) that is in the square next to Avenida 5 de Julio.

Busy during the day but surprisingly quiet at night, despite there being quite a few restaurants and bars on it and the surrounding streets. Some good stores, a couple of markets and supermarkets, and a nice stroll generally from one end of the Plateau to the other.
