Great way to learn Augusta's History
This museum was a surprise to us in how good it was. And for $5! You can't be that. Visiting Augusta for the first time, it really gave us a comprehensive history about the area. And they had a James Brown exhibit, which was phenomenal! If you are in Augusta and want to learn more about the history of this area, please make time to visit this museum.

    Lots to see!
Very nice museum of Augusta history. Nicely put together from early days to current day events. Two stories. Lots and lots to see. From artifacts to famous people from Augusta. If you take your time plan to spend a couple hours.

    Really nice museum!
This museum was an unexpected gem! Very reasonable entrance fee, and what exhibits! My husband has ADD and usually has a tough time with museums, but this was so interesting. We spent a couple hours on the first floor! We definitely have to come back because they have a great section on James Brown and other interesting things on the second floor that we really didn’t have time to do justice to them!

Good overview of the citys history
Great overview of Augusta with the many rooms around the prehistoric to more recent times. Includes a plethora of pictures and memorabilia of residents of the city. This was interesting as well as the tribute to James Brown. Disappointed in the lack of history on civil rights currently.

This museum is full of rich historical facts, data, and artifacts of and about Augusta. You should set aside at least 2-4 hours to be able to visit all of the exhibits, to read and walk around the entire museum. The prices are affordable as well.

We went back to the museum after not having been there for a couple of years. It still amazes me that a relatively small town (compared to larger metroploitan areas) could build and maintain a museum that houses so many interesting displays. Sadly I remember some exhibits that were up the first time I went that were not there the second time several years later. But the building s only so big. Still it has a full sized streetcar, railroad engine, gas station and many displays from the history of Augusta from pre-historic times to the present, including medical, scientific, military and entertainment items. It is well worth touring, even a second or third time.

A surprisingly well curated museum. We really enjoyed it, a lot of interesting information. Also highly recommend the James Brown Family Historical Tour (jamesbrownfamilyfdn.org) which departs and ends from this location. Book tour in advance.

That's a very cool museum. We usually go there several times a year - it has so many things! A lot about Civil War history, pictures, clothes, old style guns and ammo; there is also a lot of information about animals and plants. And there is a great section with some trains and other stuff from the old days. And James Brown hall is pretty impressive.

For 5.00 admittance you can't go wrong. It has everything including a train, a canal boat to move cargo and a local bus. Lots of medical history in august also. Includes civil war and both world wars plus histories of local residents. Nice place to spend a few hours.

This museum is spectacular! I spent hours there without even realizing it. The exhibits are fascinating, varied and easy to get lost in. There really is something for everyone here: history, culture, war, technology, sports, etc. I couldn't recommend it enough!

One of the best museums I’ve been to. I love how interactive it is. I spent a few hours at the museum with my family recently and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My niece and nephew were so excited to see and learn a few things about where they live from the past. Great way to get to know our city!
