Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This draws people from the community every weekend. Between the picnic area, ducks/geese, paddle boats, zoo, and children's play area the entire family would enjoy a visit. To walk around the lake takes about 1/2 an hour and is an easy stroll on mostly flat road/shoulder.

Spent the 4th of July holiday here with friends watching some great bluegrass acts and enjoying the day. It just gets better and better, and the lake is really full this year!

Take my kids here almost every weekend. Zoo is great. Lake is dry. People are friendly. This is a good place for birthday parties, we have had several here. It's a good idea to reserve your spot in advance, to make sure you get it.

Well I can't believe I've never written a review for Atascadero Lake Park, as I come here often and sit in the shade of the big trees sometimes taking a nap, sometimes reading, sometimes just enjoying the beauty that surrounds me. The big trees are super Shady and that makes for a wonderful place especially when there's a little breeze blowing through, as there can be some warm days here in Atascadero. The lake is a popular walking place where people take laps around it in the morning and the evening. Often with their dogs as well. The Lake Park is the site of many events throughout the year, including barbecues that are fundraisers during the week, free concerts part of the year, big family picnics when you make reservations, and the park in the Pavilion make for a wonderful wedding place as well. With the zoo close by, the little ones can have a good time and the playground is always popular and filled with children. I guess you'll just have to come over here and try the place out and see what you think. If I'm sleeping don't wake me, I just love this park

Lots of free parking in this park. Nice selection of slides and swings. Stretch your legs around the boating lake then use one of the many bbq tables available.

Clean and safe - top spot.

We visited this park to listen to a free concert and found so much more! We headed over to get a couple of hours out of our hotel room and really enjoyed ourselves. While we just enjoyed some music and a great view of the lake while playing family games on a blanket, it was clear there is a lot to do in that park! We went on the evening so several activities were closed. There is a small zoo that seemed nice and economical, pedal boat rentals, and walking paths. There were several picnic areas with grills. If you decide to see a free concert like we did, come early and bring lawn chairs this is clearly a popular activity in this little town.

I love to take my kids to this park. Beautiful lake, zoo is right there. They have paddle boats to rent. Great place for a Saturday picnic.

The lake has great walking or jogging paths. The only reason I gave it a medium rating is because they use to stock it with trout and catfish. When they did it was the perfect place to take young kids for a fishing lesson. Now its mostly about walking in a beautiful setting.

The park maybe a great place for the locals, but for visitors, there is hardly much excitement in the park. My kids played in the slide area and they were ok for say 15 minutes of play. We walked near the lake, but there was much less water and stagnant water smell with mosquitos all around the edge of the viewing area and the park. Maybe on weekends it might be a more lively park, but on weekdays, it was an average fare. We didn't go to the zoo as it was closed, but could see the flamingos from the entrance gate. The freedom memorial is also a few minutes of walk away from the park parking lot.

This lake has been empty sometime due to the ongoing drought in CA. So, it is nice to see the lake waters rising, and the wildlife coming back. This is a great lake to walk around. It is comforting to be able to walk around the lake listening to ducks and other birds.
