I was visiting the Lincoln Memorial and decided to walk behind the monument and follow the road around to the Potomac. The bridge is "guarded" by 2 gilded statues and the view across the river, as well as up and down, is great. Watch out...More

The mighty Potomac river flows through Washington DC when you watch in flow pass it's a sight to see. You stand next to it or drive over a bridge over it you get great views of Washington DC.

The Potomac runs through the heart of the DC Metro area. It's lined with parkland and biking and hiking paths. Lots of monuments along the way. Lots of grand and non-so grand bridges.

Definitely a nice relaxing alternative to DC and surrounding cities. I would recommend kayaking in the River for a nice adventure and some mind-clearing after...More

Went to canoing with my son and his girlfriend and love the scenic views that overlooked the river. It was a bit dirty but knew not to jump in! look of the Kennedy center and the Jefferson memorial...nothing like it!

We drove over the Potomac several times during our 3 days near Washington DC. Earlier in the week, we were at Harper's Ferry and saw where it meets the Shenandoah River. I'm kind of fascinated with rivers & bridges so enjoyed it all.
