This is a great park in North Jersey and great for day tripping. You pay by the carload and it is quite reasonable. They have even added a bar! There is plenty of beach space and parking but it does fill up on weekends so...More

The ocean side of this beach is really pretty! The water is nice and blue and pet friendly a little further down the island! The bay side water was really disgusting. I recommend insect repellant because the flies here are huge and abundant! And their...More

I really want to give IBSP 4.5 stars. The beach itself is beautiful, I much prefer it to the town beaches on the Shore. For one thing, access is much cheaper. It also has a less developed feel. My problem is that I've been going...More

Loved going here as a kid and returned a few decades later to discover it's only become better! $6 for a local car load, $12 out of state make it a much more reasonably priced beach than other local beaches. First 2 entrances include lifeguards,...More

We've been to Island Beach State Park twice so far -- once in search of snowy owls in December, and once on the first day of summer 2018. It's truly a lovely beach -- a world away from the crowds, boardwalks etc. associated with much...More

When you want a beach but don't want the boardwalk scene, you come here. But you have to get early as the park can be closed if too full and even if you get in, there may be some walking involved after finding a parking...More

Knocked three off me and another five from my two dogs. Stick to the road and your tick count should be way down.

This is a great beach! You pay by the car not the person. It is less during the week than weekends. Weekdays for 2017 was $6, weekends was $10 I think. We always go during the week though. If you hit the first parking lot...More

Call ahead, but on weekdays they open at 8. 8:30 should still be ok. I always get there at 8 and there is never a problem with lines.

I don't think so. They're not offered on the beach and the two food areas don't rent as far as I know. On the way in on route 35, there are quite a few stores that will sell you beach paraphernalia.
