Nice local beach just off of Oneroa by the Sea Village
While visiting Waiheke Island, I stopped at Oneroa by the Sea village. While there noticed a trail down to Oneroa Beach. The beach was nice for a walk along the water along with some nice photo opps.

    Relax and Enjoy the View
Walked from Flagstaff Hill to the beach - took about 20 minutes and seemed to take longer. Would be easier with a car. Once there, the beach was wonderful. Not a lot of shady areas but the water and the sand was beautiful and the outlook over the bay was fantastic.

    Gorgeous Beach Close to Auckland
I took the Fullers360 Ferry from the harbor to get to Waiheke Island. It will drop you off at the Matiatia Ferry terminal where you can walk around 30 minutes or grab a bus or cab to Oneroa village. I wound up taking a short but steep walk down to the beach from the main village strip. It happened to be a gorgeous day and the the ocean was calm. The beach is beautiful and great for a stroll. If you walk to the far end and it happens to be low tide there are massive rocks to explore around which was a lot of fun. I saw barnacles, clams, oyster shells and what looked like tiny shrimp. There is also plenty of birdlife there such as oystercatchers. I was able to walk from Oneroa Beach to Little Oneroa. There I swam in the cool water. I am not a great swimmer so I did not get to check it out but there are some cool looking rocks on the end of Little Oneroa that looked like they would be fun to explore. There are some picnic tables and a large grassy area where you can pick up some food at Dragonfired that serves a good lunch.

This is a 1.8km beach of gentle sloping golden sand down to pristine aqua waters.
Lots of shells to collect & a huge amount of Oyster Catchers to see.
The beach is served regularly by buses & there are a good choice of restaurants & cafes to visit. There is also a garage, liquor store & beach shop serving ice creams, snacks & coffees.

Our five weeks vacation touring both islands of New Zealand ended with a long stroll along the quiet beach, admiring shells that we never saw and following many of the clam catchers at work for their food.
Public amenities are clean and a BBQ is ready to be used for free as well, to our pleasant surprise.
Way to go! Everybody is welcome! Friendly New Zealand! We love you.

Good location for the shops and restaurants. Easy to access from the ferry via a short 2 min bus trip from the terminal. Just get off at any of the Oneroa shops and you can easily walk down the steep paths to the beach.
Often good for boat and people watching, nice for a stroll, sunbathing.
Picnic benches along the beach at certain spots and a children’s swing / play area.

What a gorgeous place. Easy walk from the ferry. Check out the shops then wander down to this long pristine beach. Clear gorgeous water, lots of beautiful shells and coloured pebbles. There’s lovely boats sailing around.
Good toilet block and a place to rinse off your feet.

Took for Fuller 360 ferry from Auckland to Waiheke Island, first stop Oneora.
The largest suburb on the island, Oneroa is a pretty place which can easily be walked or hire a bike and ride around.
Plenty of boutiques and shops to investigate, as well as plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants located on the main street.
Wonderful main beach which, if you are lucky, you can spot pods of dolphins in the water.

This beautiful bay gives you the feeling that you are miles away from everything, not just a 40 minute ferry trip from Aucklands CBD. Popular with tourists and locals for swimming. The bay also offers a safe harbour for boaties and with the main shopping street on the island above the beach there is the opportunity to replenish supplies or grab a cold drink and an ice cream. If you are up for a walk the Te Ara Hura coastal track to Matiatia from the beach is superb.

Spectacular beach - safe and sandy beach. A short walk from Oneroa Cafes and restaurants. Just a short bus ride from the Waiheke ferry terminal. There are often lots of pleasure craft in the bay.

If you want a peaceful place away from the crowd, then this beach is perfect. Walk further and you will see some amazing rocks, I went for a climb on one of the rock, just be really careful as it is quite slippery on a cloudy days.
Beautiful beach, you can just seat, relax while enjoying bird's chirping noises.

Even in late winter, on a sunny day this beach is wonderful. Because it is late winter there were not a lot of people, so we shared the beach with less than a dozen people. Once down the walk from Oceanview Drive we took off our shoes and walked in the sand before finally finding a perfect spot to just sit and take in the beauty of this natural cove.

The beach was clean without a bunch of cigarette butts and other rubbish like some of the beaches in Hawaii. Great place to just relax. The attached picture is from above looking down a down and out. Trying to show the view.

This was the nicest of the three beaches I saw on the north part of the island. Beautiful rockface with the sun shining on the water. Nice beach to rest or walk on. Highly recommend!
