We picked a lovely fine Spring day for our three hour sail around the Sound. Nice stable catamaran, good bar on board, useful commentary on local sights. You are provided with a nice feast of green shelled mussels, bread and dukkah, and fresh cooked delicious salmon. It really is a lovely cruise and worth the price. Recommended.

I travelled with my elderly and mobility impaired parents, aunt and sister. So we were requiring a little extra assistance. We were welcomed immediately and after a little hesitation could board while the BBQ was cooking. We made our way upstairs and had a great time. Nick the skipper and Karen were lovely. They served food and drinks to our heart’s content. We love seafood so everyone was happy. The day was spectacular and Nick manoeuvred us out of the breeze for dinner and fish feeding. This would be the perfect half day out for any and everyone. Highly recommended from the front desk to the farewells, We all had a lovely time.
Thank you Nick Karen and Summa and the front desk woman! Awesome

We did this tour on a whim as we had nothing planned that afternoon. This became the highlight of our trip. Blair and Ellie were amazing. Blair is very knowledgeable when explaining the intricacies of the mussel and salmon farm that we visited. They both made us feel relaxed and welcomed.
Ellie cooked some mussels and Cloudy Bay clams for us and paired them with a nice Pinot Gris from the region. She also had some salmon for us. That was fantastic.
The leftovers were given to some blue cods in a sheltered bay. Love seeing them.
All in all, a very good experience. I will definitely do this again as it is a great way to see the Sounds.
Highly recommended.

In our minds, a seafood odyssey conjures up an exquisite mix of seafood delicacies to try, whilst sailing upon a beautiful craft.
In reality, we arrived after being told to check in on berth 6 to find they'd actually changed it to berth 5 without letting anyone know. The vessel at berth 5 already had approximately 25 people on board and the area chained off stating "staff only". After querying with random other staff passing by we were informed this was indeed the correct vessel, these people were having a barbecue before the sailing.
Upon boarding, very little space was left to even find a comfortable seat.
Oh, you can have 1 complimentary glass of wine the rest to be charged.
Very little commentary, barely 15 minutes for the whole excursion. Staff were there, not particularly engaging but present.
Then the highlight - seafood!!! As many steamed mussels you can eat if you're prepared to jostle with the other 40 people of board, more like a rugby scrum. Copius piles of cubed bread to accompany. Then the highlight of salmon, picture attached, this was handed out individually, all 2 inches square of it. The salmon was actually very nice for the morsel we had.
Marlborough Sound is beautiful, we didn't see any dolphins, which understandably is the joy of nature and being in the right place at the right time.
Maybe if they renamed the cruise "Mussel bunfight", that might have been nearer the mark. Very disappointed.

A wonderful trip out in the sounds today. The dolphins and seals put on an outstanding display for us which was an added bonus. The bay where we stopped to see the fish was delightful and the seafood was cooked to perfection with the crew being knowledgeable about the mussel and salmon farm. Thanks again to the crew.

A very relaxed trip from Picton. Great crew who kept us entertained and so well fed. The seafood was fantastic and a perfect compliment to the visits to mussel and salmon farms along the way. Late highlight feeding the huge blue cod who were waiting for us to appear.
Great crew, great food, great value. Highly recommended

We loved our afternoon on the boat. Great staff - amazing food! We had a small tour with only 8 of us and it was perfect. Loved learning all about the mussel farm and salmon farm and were incredibly lucky that we had a stunning day weather wise too. Would definitely recommend to anyone coming to Picton.

Lovely experience - you get an amazing selection of clams, (huge) green shell mussels and salmon, accompanied with a lovely glass of Marlborough wine. The catamaran is large and comfortable, and the staff (Nicole, I think her name was!) lovely and genuinely passionate about you having a good time. The tour of the Sounds and the mussel and salmon farm are really interesting an informative, and you even have the opportunity to get up close and personal feeding some blue cod. It's just a lovely, relaxing few hours with great views and food.

despite rainy weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the Seafood Odyssea cruise. Matt was very attentive and the Captain, Fjord, was very informative and extremely knowledgable about the Sound. We had delicious green mussels, smoked salmon and oysters and a glass or two of a very good white wine. The Marlborough Sound is a very beautiful, unspoilt area, rich in marine life and something not to be missed.

is there a morning cruise? We are arriving on a cruise ship and it will be leaving at 5pm so need to be back there by 5.30. There are 4 of us

HI, thanks for the query. We do have a morning departure called Jing Cai Seafood Cruise which operates 3 mornings a week (Mon, Wed, Fri) 9.00am - 12.30pm. Then our afternoon Seafood Odyssea Cruise which oeprates 1.30pm - 5pm. our vessel Odyssea departs from Townwharf #5 so a 5 - 7 minute walk from the Picton Info Centre. The Cruise Ship shuttle bus is a free service from the Ship to the Info centre. So its all easy to get around and everything is nice and close. From your question I am unsure if your ship leaves at 5pm or 6pm if you have to be back by 5.30pm.. But being back by 5.30pm will be totally fine for our afternoon Seafood Odyssea Cruise. THANKS..
