This is a great 4 day walk. We found it quite hard. But very enjoyable. The 2nd and 4th day were the best

We were looking forward to this ferry trip which was going to be a highlight of our New Zealand visit. Unfortunately it was marred by wet weather which is common in the area. I imagine it could be spectacular but not on this occasion.

Spent a lazy Sunday morning...up until 1pm cruising the sounds. An hour on the stunning motuara island bird sanctuary. ..so worth a visit. .Lovely walk to peak. .gorgeous wildlife and fauna. . Caught the mail run boat back. ..wandered around ship cove where cook landed. ..explored various resorts on islands. ..hidden little coves. ..seals, birds, relaxing & fun. ..great historical... One of the most spectacular views we have seen. We drove from Picton to Nelson which is a great drive but if you want some spectacular views of Picton and the sound you need to only go to the first observation point not too far along the road from Picton. Well worth seeing.

Arriving by ferry, the views of this sound are incredible. It's well worth the time to enjoy it --- find a way to take a kayak, a small boat or a Queen Charlotte track hike.

Informative tour of the sound. The skippers commentary was interesting and was more than happy to answer questions. We were visited by a large pod of bottle nose dolphins and were entertained by their wake surfing and attempts to outdo each other with aerial acrobatics. This was a highlight for my husband and I. We took wine and nibbles and... More

We did a short one day walk from Furneaux Lodge to Punga Cove Resort. This is quite a flat part and quite easy. Beautful views all along the walkway

Any walk overlooking Queen Charlotte Sound is a must for any photographer. The light on most days is clear and the sun or clouds keep changing the atmospheric views and picture taking.

We drove the Queen Charlotte Sound from Picton to Havelock, famous for its Green Lip Mussels, which was a delight with lovely vistas at almost every turn. We took the turning right at Linkwater and drove for several kilometres before ending up Mistletoe Bay where we walked and then drove on Te Mahia Bay for coffee.
