Great day on the water

We took a 2-3 hour cruise and saw some lovely scenery and historic sites. We did not know before we left that this was the are Captain Cook arrived at in NZ.

We stayed at Picton in the Top Ten Holiday Park. The owners were so very obliging. Couldn't do enough for us. We were only in a cabin which was adaquate, clean and tidy.

We passed through with the ferry and we enjoyed the trip very much. It is amazing passing the sound in one of the huge ferry ships just passing through the narrow parts.

The Marlborough Sounds is the best place to go in the summer. Great weather, good places to eat and drink, boating, kayaking, not too far from Picton, it's really good. I would highly recommend it if you are a water bunny and love the sun

We arrived on our cruise there. Indeed, it is a stunning place even when it was drizzling and foggy. Well worth coming back in the summer again for longer time. Very relaxing place with great views.

Just arrived on the interisland ferry. .Lovely cruise over. Smooth crossing and stunning views entering the sounds. Have booked smaller cruises for tomorrow. ..its all very pretty and relaxing...the interisland ferry group are very professional. Lovely clean ship. .great amenities. ..comfy seating. And great choices of where to sit.

So glad we built the ferry crossing into our itinerary. The scenery is unlike anything I've seen before. Very windy out on deck but that was all part of it. HOWEVER - see separate review for Interislander Ferry which are a disgrace in my opinion!

New Zealanders have discovered how beautiful this is, but only a few tourists get to the remote parts of the Sounds. If you are looking for a different kind of experience, a quieter side of NZ, this is it.
