Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did the 5-day Independent version arranged by Wilderness Guides:
Day 1 - Ships Cove to Furneaux lodge (Endeavour Inlet) - about 20 km walking
Day 2 - Furneaux Lodge to Punga Cove lodge - about 14 km
Day 3 - Punga Cove to Portage - it says 23 km in the guidebook, but I reckon it was closer to 27 km. The ups and downs were the hardest rather than the distance, so some in my party opted to take the water taxi that day! They really enjoyed the boat trip and arrived early enough to go for a swim and relax while others were still walking
Day 4 - Portage to Lochmara Lodge - 10 km
Day 5 -Lochmara Lodge to Anakiwa - 20 km

Other folks did the whole track in 4 days and missed Lochmara Lodge - so the last day was (for them), 24 km (as the 3 km in and out of Lochmara Lodge was not required); however the 24 km would have been a hard day, having two steep pitches (one up from The Portage and one down to Te Mahia); some in our group may have struggled to do it in one day. However Lochmara Lodge was the least favourite of our four nights ... although it did make the last day easier. We were lucky with the weather for the whole trip - first day was drizzly rain but the rest of the time was sunshine and cool - amazing walking weather!

So in summary, I'd recommend doing the Queen Charlotte Track, as it has amazing scenery and allows the flexibility of taking the water-taxi (for an extra cost) any day you don't feel like walking. I would recommend doing it over 4 days, but consider starting early on the last day from Portage if you struggled on Day 3.

The track varied from wide and well maintained, to steep and slippery in parts (espec if it has rained). Walking poles help a lot if you are not young and/or sure-footed!

I did this walk over 4 days with a rest day at furneaux lodge for Xmas day. I got my bags moved each day with beachcombers which meant I could walk with a day pack. The first day from ship cove to furneaux was relentless drizzle and a lot of mud. Day 2 from furneaux to Punga Cove was the easiest day at 3 hours. A very very big day from punga to portage took about 6.5 hours or so and then the last day was hard at the start but then ok and was about 6 hours a a boat back to Picton. Loads of amazing views but no wildlife at all other than one boat and a few birds.

I completed this track with a good friend and we enjoyed every minute. This track seems to be overlooked in favour of some fo the great walks but it has beautiful scenery and is very accessible. There are challenges on the walk - if you want you can shorten the days taken although we took the full five days and found that stretched us plenty. There is good accommodation on the route and best of all you don't have to carry your pack as one of the boat services will do that for you.

Amazing walk with coastal parts and mountain views. Not a track for the faint hearted but a really amazing holiday.
The accommodation was excellent along the way and the bag transfers made life so much better.
