Small cheese shop which also holds tastings. A few selections of cheese to buy. Cheese making can be seen through the back shop although none ongoing on our visit. Would not have missed much had we not stopped.

On our way back from Akaroa we did a quick stop at Barrys Bay Cheese. This is a great place to come to if you want to stock up on their lovely range - Their peppered Havarti is definitely top of the list.

At the bottom of the steep decline into Barry's Bay, this small cheese factory is situated in a picturesque spot over looking the bay. A small sample of their produce is available for tasting and there is a window to view the making process

As a cheese shop (obviously its main function), I'm sure Barry's Bay has anything a buyer might want and more. We went there with great anticipation having heard there was a bit more of an 'experience' involved, however brief, as well as to buy a...More

Called in and were greeted by a most informative lady who was able to answer our questions. Watched men working with cheese and a 5 min video on how. Delicious cheeses which we sampled and brought.

A small cottage cheese maker but offered a wide variety of cheeses. From cheddar to blue cheese. A place for good and yummy cheese. Worth your visit and money.

We were passing by on our way to Akaroa and thought we would visit. The place is essentially a shop with a viewing window into the guys making the cheese with some explanatory pictures on the process. The cheese range is extensive and they let...More

I don't like to write negative comments but Barry's Cheese left us very disappointed. We were not made to feel welcome at all despite being the only ones in the shop. The woman behind the counter was curt, uninformative, and did not offer an opportunity...More

Went to the factory shop with 2 others. Cheese was nice. There didn't seem to be a front of house sales person. No greeting, no information about their product or cheese making.
