The interiors are beautiful with stained glass windows. The silence felt inside the church is very welcoming in today's times.

St Peter's is right in the tourist heart of Akaroa. Just above the museum and well below the Giant's House. Open and welcoming. One day I was there the organist was playing. Evocative of a strong and resourceful community over more than a century. Thank you for opening it to the passer-by.

Saint-Peter's is just 100 metres off the main road. Climb up a few steps, and inside you're in another world. Beautiful, peace and quiet.

We called in here because it's at the bottom of the road up to The Giants House. Whereas the Catholic church is white and light this has a darker wood interior but I think I like it more.

Well worth going in! Deceptive from the outside as it looks fresh bright and almost modern, but step inside to yesteryear. Beautiful ceiling and timberwork everywhere. Lovely stained glass beautifully crafted.

We were coming to the end of our brief tour of the South Island of New Zealand and our visit to this beautiful church was a chance to reflect on this visit. The Church itself it so lovely to look at, both inside and outside, and well worth visiting.

The church was built in 1864 after an earlier one built in 1851.The church has linked up with the Trinty Presbyterian Church for worship. It was open for viewing.

On the day we were in Akaroa, we stopped by this little wooden white church. The church has over a hundred years history. It has undergone extensive repair both inside and outside after the 2010 earthquake.
The church has beautiful stain glass and a pipe organ. There was a banner that caught my eyes. The banner has 8 light houses with the word said "8 Churches Lights For God".
Happy Travelling!

One of the sights in Akaroa. A quaint little church open for view with some nice stained glass windows.

This historic old church is exquisite, and what a surprise! It is a little church but in cruciform shape, with wonderful roof angles framing the sanctuary. The sanctuary is a picture with a colourful stained glass window behind. The organ with its decorated pipes is also a treat. For us this is the best destination in Akaroa.
