The artefacts and historical information that visitors can view and read is first class. You also get to go into the now-decommissioned Court house as well as watch a short film about how the Banks Peninusla and Akaroa came to be. A must visit for...More

A small museum with both permanent and temporary exhibits. A good place to start is the excellent video (on loop) in the original courthouse next door which gives an excellent history of the town. 2232

We loved this charming little museum. It was very well thought out giving a quality experience. Whilst the cottage was not available to view, we still enjoyed our visit.

A good history of the settlement of the town and surrounds, it illustrate well the hardships of the early settlers, they are braver than me!

We had some time to spend in Akaroa so we wandered the streets and came upon this small but good museum. It was bigger than it seemed, and free to the public. Many artifacts from war and Akaroa history, so much to see.

A small museum but nicely laid out. The main reason for the visit was information on Frank Worsley which unfortunately was not available.

It's a small place, but well worth a visit. A lot of information presented very well, with a decent shop.

A top stop (a very interesting museum) and it is free! It is small; so doesn’t take very long (so good just to stop off from a car journey). I would highly reccomend.
