We took this tour as an excursion from our cruise ship. Pick up and drop off were easy and on time. There is a short drive over to the bay where we kayaked.
We spent a bit of time getting outfitted with our gear. (They...More
We weren't certain our sea kayaking was going to be possible due to high winds, but our wonderful guide was able to get us out in the cove with no issues (and no high waves). We did not see a lot of penguins or seals...More
We did the four hr 4wd tour to Ave’s Aunties place. The penguins live on their sheep property and all the proceeds from the tour are invested into the conservation and protection of these cute little critters.

Thank you so very much for your nice comment and having join us on our Evening penguin tour.
We feel very lucky to live on the peninsula so much conservation work happening and so many birds coming back to the area.
We took this tour from our cruise stop in Akoroa. It was a small group and our guide was the niece of the sheep farm owner. Upon arrival we had freshly baked muffins and team and coffee. It was so genuine and you could tell...More

Yes there is , We pick people up from the Akaroa main wharf on cruise ship days here, the tour starts from there with a scenic Drive over to pohatu penguin habitat, We have 2 land based tour options the 2 hour nature tour or the longer version (same place) 4 hour nature tour- we see more scenery and do more walking on this one. Both visit our funny sheep and get to see penguins up close as we monitor the nesting boxes, taking in the beautiful scenery of the outer coast of Banks peninsula.
Note; March is the only month penguins are likely not around.
We also have a Sea kayaking trip, with the scenic drive from the main wharf on cruise ship days.
Hope that's helpful.
