Ethels is terrific!
Comfortable seats, great sound, and tasty food.
Staff was enjoyable to interact with, and the movie selection is top notch.

What a great experience! We had the Dirty Harry pizza and it was AMAZING! Such a cute little place with friendly staff and a great seaside, small town feel. Loved it! Oh, and the brownie was to die for.

An amazing boutique cinema in Akaroa, Banks Peninsula. The cinema has great sound, big screen, very comfortable huge seats, wide selection of films, with some fun themed nights and is a locally owned business.Ticks all the boxes. I just wish I could get there more often.

Great food - pizza wine and home made meals and desserts, with China cups and great hosts, fantastic range of films from block busters to art house and tiny theatres - it’s a wonderful experience in winter or summer- highly recommend

Okay. Our ‘weekend’ is not the typical Saturday-Sunday but we made the most of a weekend in Akaroa with TWO movies, wine, pizza, vegan slice, popcorn...
Ethel’s is a great little cinema, cafe, bar! Excellent food, fabulous people!
