Tours and Tickets by Fox II
Overview
The rarest dolphins in the world live in the waters around Akaroa, and you can get up close to them on this eco-friendly sailing tour. Feel like you’ve stepped back in time as you board the vintage wooden sailboat. Glide quietly through the waters, leaving the dolphins, penguins, seals, and albatross relatively undisturbed. This is a private tour, so grab your friends for a fun day on the water, or your significant other for a romantic experience.

So much fun from start to finish. We saw dolphins, penguin, seals and sea birds and also got a general history lesson of the local area, all whilst sailing on the awesome Fox II (sipping on a drink as we did so).

My family and I had a terrific experience on the Fox II, scoring the trifecta of Hector’s dolphins, Little blue penguins and seals. Captain Roy is a hard case enthusiast and perfectly pitched the trip for adults and children alike.

We also learned a lot about the geology and history of the area. It was lovely cruising under the sails. We will definitely do this again when we have friends or family staying. Thanks for a great afternoon.…

Getting out on Akaroa Harbour to the heads and then into the open ocean is an incredible experience but to do this on a 100 year old kauri ketch amongst the graceful Hectors dolphins while the ketch rides the waves and the winds tugs at sails is like a step back into a previous age. The captain gave an excellent commentary and with his skilled crew kept us safe while informing us of the history and wildlife of the harbour. It was brilliant.…
