About
Come and enjoy unforgettable wine tasting, stunning views and behind-the-scenes tours of our wine cellar and Butterfly Santery. Breath in the breathtaking views over the small town of Akaroa, an historic French and British settlement nestled in the hear of an ancient volcano. Book in advance and enjoy light refreshments on the terrace or in the cellar. Akaroa is a small town on the Banks of Peninsula in the Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand and our vineyard is perfectly positioned to not only grow award-winning wines but to also provide lifetime memories of your visit.

Last minute decision and so glad we visited. A wonderful welcome, great value, beautiful views, wines and hospitality. Significant wine purchases made. A real gem.

Gay and David are the loveliest people. We started with a wine tasting of the delicious Rieslings and a Pinot Noir. We enjoyed a bottle of the 2015 Riesling on the STUNNING terrace with views of the harbour. The wines are all delightful. We had a lovely chat with Gay who went out of her way to ensure our visit was so memorable. You can walk or get transit up to the vineyard. It is the #1 must see when you're in Akaroa. The visit up here really made our day and affirmed our position on the beauty of New Zealand and its people.

We stayed overnight in the neighbourhood and discovered this nice little winery only a little walk away. Visited, got some tasting done and just had to buy a Riesling 2012 to take home even though already full suitcases. Sooooo good and what a scenary!!

This was a real highlight. Relaxing, enjoying a glass of wine with an amazing chesse and bread cracker in the warmth of the spring sun. Gay makes an amazing quince spread and the cheese selection is generous and delicious. Wonderfull hosts with a great view of the harbor and beautiful bird life and butterflys.
It was a great afternoon.

Visited Gay’s winery with my sister and friend. Could not recommend here enough. We were welcomed by Gay who entertained us with great conversation and local knowledge, while serving us an array of her wines. Had a delicious cheese board and ham/mustard/gherkin of fresh baguette. Definitely add this winery to your itinerary on your visit to Akaroa, also worth a visit on its own

Ok, i get it, you don't want to be serving us but you have to. Sell it mate. The wines were quite nice but it was hard work trying to get the chat happening.

We were tipped by another local business to go to Meniscus and pleased that we did. David & Gay are great hosts. We enjoyed sampling their wines and had a lovely lunch of local cheeses, olives, and Gay's quince jelly, with a Reisling overlooking the vines and Akaroa Harbour. Tuis provided background birdsong.

I live in the area (half hour drive away). I always take my friends and visitors to Meniscus. The view of Akaroa Village is the best I have discovered. The wines are brilliant..the gold medal riesling was way the best I have ever tasted. ... yum ...(I am not a red drinker so I dont know about those)The hospitality of the owners is beyond wonderful ,..... friendly and personal ..and you literally sit on their terrace, immediately adjacent to the entrance to their home. There is also a butterfly room and if Gay is at home (she usually is!) you will be taken on a very informative tour and you will become much more aware of these beautiful creatures.
All my friends said it was one of the most wonderful experiences of their lives...says it all!

One million dollars view and great atmosphere! Big thanks to the owners for that ! Had a wine tasting of the wines and our choice was ‘Riesling 2015’ , however other wines were beautiful as well. Tasty cheese plate , beautiful view and great wine .. what else you need for happiness ?! We will come back shortly 😊
