Amazing panoramic views, great company, accommodation and facilities were exceptional. Ability to have bags taken from hut to hut a real bonus. Wildlife galore as well. A challenge, but doable and enjoyable.

Fantastic scenery. Accomodation was great. Well worth doing. It’s not an easy walk with lots of uphill grunts but well worth the effort

'Thanks' to Omicron I was the only walker on the track, but I felt really well looked after anyway. The track is a great showcase of all that Banks Peninsula has to offer and I was especially positively surprised by the amount of bush the track traverses and the amount of bird life. The track is really well signposted with some quirky and humorous signs as well and shelters on each leg. The shelter on seal cove has to be seen to be believed. Great accommodation ranging from old-fashioned comfort in Flea Bay to someone's tiny home and arty projects addiction gone mad in Stony Bay. Allow some extra time in Stony Bay just to look at all the stuff! I think if you are reasonably fit the walking times are on the generous side, so you do have time to dawdle a bit and take everything in. One note for overseas tourists: do take the advice to prepare for all weather seriously. I left Onuku in a T-shirt and arrived in Flea Bay wearing T-shirt, shirt, jersey, raincoat, woolly hat and neck sock and wishing I had put my gators in the day pack. On Banks Peninsula this is normal :-) Will definitely be back to do the track again.…

Three friends and I walked this track, taking the three day option. The track has spectacular views of the coastal cliffs, some enjoyable walking on farmland and a brilliant walk up and through Hinewai reserve, a gully where regenerating bush is colourful and lush. HInewai also has graceful, tall red beech trees.Day one and day three have steep climbs of about 700 metres but as the distances are not too long you can take your time going up the hill. We thought some of the tracks could do with a little more maintenance, and we were lucky that the huts were not full, so we could all sleep on bottom bunks. The accommodation is attractive, beautifully finished and characterful.…

Thanks for your 5 star review. Apologies for less maintenance this season, the December flood impacted our usual work and we are still repairing damage from it four months later. We are pleased you enjoyed your Banks Track experience despite this.
