Wonderful winery with beautiful views. The owner was very personable and knowledgeable. We had a lovely visit and tasting with him. After the tasting we had a glass of wine on the deck and they even brought us a delicious snack. Watch out for cruise ship arrival schedule. We didn’t encounter any but we’re warned to be aware of their schedule.

We were in town for the day on the Majestic Princess cruise ship and visited winery first thing in the morning in order to get back in time for an afternoon excursion. We decided to walk to get some exercise since the winery isn't actually that far from the wharf and we had been on the ship for a few days eating way too much as usual. The walk is VERY steep and we were both sweating by the time we reached the winery in spite of the cool weather and the fact that we are both in very good physical shape. No one was in the tasting room so we rang the bell as the instructions indicated. After waiting for about 10 minutes with no word, I walked up to the main house and spoke with someone and about 5 minutes later the owner arrived at the tasting room. My wife and I each had a tasting that was supposed to consist of 4 wines, 2 varietals from 2 different years, however, one of the varietals/years was not open so we ended up with 3 wines. While we prefer red wines, we both found the Riesling to be excellent and bought a bottle to take back to the boat (after drinking it on the ship, we both agreed we should have bought another bottle!). They have a small deck to sit and enjoy a glass (or bottle) but since we had to be back we took a few pictures of the fantastic view and descended back down to the wharf on foot after turning down a return ride.

All-in-all, well worth the effort to visit. I would not hesitate to go back again although I would probably arrange for a ride and plan for more time to sit and enjoy the view.

The view is fantastic, the wine was good and the owners David and Gay were the best. We were in town for the day on the Majestic Princess cruise Ship. It’s a steep climb up to the winery but the walk is beautiful and 100% worth the hike or contact the winery and they will pick you up.

Our group thoroughly enjoyed a tasting by the relaxed and charming owner/ wine maker David. The lounge and experience had an interesting and unassuming atmosphere, after tasting four wines it was availible thereafter by the bottle and glass. There were beautiful views over the bay, and was well worth the 15 minute walk uphill from the seafront. It was a shame we couldn't take a few bottles home due to luggage!

Lovely spot to sit and look out over Akaroa, the wine very nice & the cheese plate and glass of wine reasonably priced. A lovely couple playing host to people coming and going. I did however have the most terrible time at 4am with the olives stuffed with anchovies & was violently ill. This may have just been me allergic to them however! Overall a lovely spot.

Breathtaking view of Akaroa Bay. Delicious wines and cheeses. Very peaceful and relaxing. The owner are very sweet and the wines are delicious. About 20 minutes walking from the cruise tender pier you can walk (quite steep) or by taxi.

A stunning location above Akaroa with views of the bay. Produces some very drinkable Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc and a pleasant terrace to look at the view after the tasting and enjoy a glass of wine.

We did the Misty Peak Trek (a challenge itself) and nearing the end we came across this vineyard so I said to my husband ‘Let’s stop’ after all we don’t want to trek back UP the hill to it so we did.
We rang the bell 3-4 the times and no-one came so just as we were leaving a red van pulled up containing the Town Crier.
He went off and got the owner.
We then tasted 3 wines ( only available in Akaroa) Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir.
We bought a Riesling coz we were having Chicken that night but I did like the Pinot Noir.
We had a fab time chatting and wine tasting. Turns out David, the owner, is a ‘tad’ deaf so why he had a bell we couldn’t understand.
If u love people and quirky places please go.
U will love it
If u want slick quick professional service then steer clear it is not the kind of person welcome here. This is a very personal service by the owner and we loved it.
Thank-you David
