Lovely area in the centre of the town. Lots of nice historic looking cobbled streets with great little shops, cafes, bars, restaurants. Lovely friendly atmosphere and lots of places to sit and enjoy the views.

Very disappointing, the sole exhibition about the Mediterranean diet. We had hoped for more on the history of Tavira, but got nothing at all. The 'diet' exhibition was a series of tedious written displays. There were signs indicating at least two exhibitions, but we could...More

The museum was presenting an exhibition of contemporary art, which was a nice surprise, as we were expecting to find some ancient archaeological treasures. It was very interesting and well presented.

A good museum which explains the history of the Algarve for local people, presentations are accompanied by English explanation boards. Well worth a visit.

Thought this was the worst museum we ever visited and we have visited a lot!! Mostly about the med diet and a few maps on the wall. Maybe we missed something but honestly you could give this a miss - there's more history on the...More

After visiting the Islamic Museum, we expecting an interesting local museum telling us the other parts of the Tavira story through the ages. Perhaps we missed it, but the top floors of the building were taken up with some rather dull, uninspired art installations, and...More
