This is the best Cold War related museum I’ve ever visited. Feels quite surreal to go underground to see the rooms where the people worked and stood on alert if nuclear war was coming. Don’t miss the launch pad for the missiles!

Different people will react in different ways to this place depending how old they were in 1990. Still, hearing gunfire from artillery manoeuvres the previous day is a reminder of what it is all about. Either originally constructed to very high technical standards, or immaculately...More

Plokstine nuclear missile base is the middle of Zemaitija National Park surrounded by the forests. Soviet military complex was there until 1978. Lots of interesting artifacts about political situation at that time. 4 thermonuclear warheads were deployed at this site ready to be launched aiming...More

The Plokstine Missile Base and Cold War Museum is definitely worth a visit! When or where else will you get to enter a former soviet nuclear missile base?

It is cold and dark place, but you must see it to understand what happened in our history. Very good guide, interesting stories, will be back with my child.

Plokštinė is a former military base, now telling the history of cold war in the Baltics from both sides of the barricade (US and USSR), with no discounts given. This is the story of lives endangered, of mass destruction, of weapon development - it is...More

Never knew there was such a base in Soviet Lithuania. Amazed. Very informative guide. Toddlers were borred though, but overall the time was well spent.

Visited while driving through Lithuania. There is parking available at the site. The displays have lots of (sometimes too much) information. But there is also a great audio guide, which I enjoyed. The site is a little kitschy (mannequins in uniforms), but the facility itself...More

This former soviet missile base is mostly revealed through its several underground displays and settings. Occasionally, the narrative wanders a bit off piste but there are some genuinely thought-provoking moments realised through multi-lingual displays and a good quality audio-guide in english. There is the occasional...More
