To be honest I visited here something like 8 or 9 years ago, and this visit was a very very different experience. What one visits is naturally the same - a one time Soviet IRBM site which would have played a vital and devastating part...More

Hard to find as up a long drive near a tourist lake but worth the effort. Chilling to look into the empty missile silo. Lots to see and lots to read but the tour is way to quick and not enough time is given to...More

This place it tucked in the a remote part of the countryside. 5km along a dirt road. It is like stepping back in time, into the underground Soviet nuclear facility. It is all underground. You can stare down the hole where a nuclear missile was...More

Very interesting to go deep inside a Soviet bunker and learn how Soviets used to handle their missiles during the cold war. The museum has an exposition explaining the cold war and life of soldiers who used to work there. This place offers guides which...More

The Plokstine missile base was established in the middle of a massive national park in Zemaitija, Lithuania. According to our guide it was far away from everyone and everything; in other words if it all went horribly wrong it wasn't such a big deal for...More

This is the best Cold War related museum I’ve ever visited. Feels quite surreal to go underground to see the rooms where the people worked and stood on alert if nuclear war was coming. Don’t miss the launch pad for the missiles!

Different people will react in different ways to this place depending how old they were in 1990. Still, hearing gunfire from artillery manoeuvres the previous day is a reminder of what it is all about. Either originally constructed to very high technical standards, or immaculately...More
