Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Latvian is a language that changes many common names - so this park is named after the consul general of Prussia, Johann Wöhrmann - it is a long way to become Vermanes.
The Prussian consul was governor of the city and had the idea for the park in 1817 - it is the oldest in the city and is 5 hectares.
So we also find here more ancient monuments than for example in the park of Bastions. A very happy walk also - the center of the city is indeed very green.

We stayed in the Grand Poet by Samannah Hotel which is adjacent to this lovely parkland and walked through it many times to the old town with its many beautiful buildings, restaurants and bars. There are many large trees, flowers and particularly remember the Hydrangea Paniculata which were huge when we were there in September. Two men were playing music when we walked through one day and it was lovely to look over the water and hear the music.

This is a pretty park relatively near my hotel & several attractions (the Old Town, the Freedom Monument & the Nativity of Christ Cathedral). I found it by wandering randomly several hours after my arrival in Riga. Everything had just bloomed & the trees had leafed out. Just gorgeous!

Very green park with a river going through it and filled with lots of modern statues, with the 42 metre Freedom monument being the most prominent.

This was one og the greatest surprise when I visited Riga. I just didn't expect it. I have spent many hours there and it was really lovely. There was also, by coincidence, a local fiesta, with many happenings in the park and I lived an unforgettable experience, since everything was like from another era.

Great stroll and can take quite awhile if you have the time. Can go both ways, see main statue just out of old town, and has fountains.

Very nice park! It's nice to take a leisurely walk along the canal. Very quiet, calm, enough benches to relax.
Pleasure boats depart from here for a trip along the canal and river. Beautiful views along the road, the captain talks about the sights, a good rest.

It's a beautiful, clean, well-kept garden, nice to go there in summer or October when trees and leaves have wonderful colours...

Rain or shine, this is an easy and enjoyable strolling park. Picturesque bridges, canal boats (for hire), the Opera House, monuments and other sculptures.

Beautiful gardens and river. We were lucky enough to see the resident Beavers early one evening. Lovely place to stroll or even hire a rowing boat.

Everything is beautiful. I particularly loved the tram ride to the central market. Whatever you do you’ll enjoy it. Follow your nose and go with the flow.

Hei! Jeg var i Riga sommeren 2014. Her gikk jeg en tur i Vermanes parken. Det var kunnstinstalasjoner i parken som fikk meg til å tenke på Japan. Jeg ble interessert i om det er en fast utstilling, og historien for den.
