    Wow! Wow! Wow!
I walked around the Old Town as soon as I checked in at my hotel. It is not as big as Tallinn, but the buidlings and architectures are ornate and beautiful. There are restaurants, shops, hotels, churches, etc around here. I enjoyed my first day here!

    Nice!
Very interesting, very walkable. It has the good things you want to see in an 'Old Town'. Probably falls behind other more prominent ones across Europe, but Riga has a good one nonetheless. It's a great base to stay in for your trip, but I would suggest getting out of there for a time and seeing other parts of Riga also.

    Riga is worth your while
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. In love with the city center of Riga. The building walls are high compared to Vilnius (love the city too), gives a very “safe” feeling. Prices are very tame, nightlife in the summer is wonderful.

Riga historic city with lot‘s of recent and old history. A Cultural hub of Latvia.
Fantastic authentic old city with some „rough edges“, meaning houses that haven’t been renovated yet. Unlike cities like Venice that have been in the centre of tourist attention for many years, Riga is fresh in that sense. It is lively and not artificial for tourists. You walk by the parliament of Latvia and the ministries, as well as people shopping or living there.

    Very attractive city
We had a morning walking tour with our small group, taking in the highlights of the old town as well as some of the Art Nouveau buildings slightly further out. The old town is very attractive and easily walkable, with varied and interesting architecture, pretty cobbled streets and squares. There are plenty of options for eating and drinking and people watching too!

Lovely city with a long history.
Just had a lovely long-weekend in Riga. Visited museums, walked among the old buildings etc. Just having a great time. Friendly people, great pubs and restaurants. Good food, good beer and drinks. Buying the Riga City Pass was a waste of money. But will still give this town 5 stars.

    Beautiful and peaceful city
Very beautiful city. You can walk the town in a day. Two days in Riga and we visited all the places 3 or 4 times. Freedom monument, old town and the bastejkalna park was so so beautiful. I believe Riga must visited with good whether, like summer, not winter so you can walk easy in every direction. I loved Riga.

    Compact and beautiful.
Riga's old city is one of Europe's undiscovered gems. Walkable, packed with history and, in most part, free of traffic. The city does not shy away from its often difficult history and has in places like the Occupation Museum, the KGB building, and the Ghetto and Holocaust Museam, tells an often difficult story. There are lots of bars and, although the restaurants are a bit hit and miss, there is plenty of choice. It is a perfect place for a long weekend visit.

Large old town with character and colour
Definitely the largest Old Town among the three in the Baltic capitals and the most interesting to see. Fairly spread out with mainly Hanseatic architecture and some Art Nouveau around. Good mix of colours as well.

    A Great Place To Explore
The Old City or Vecrigo is a mix of architectural styles and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997. Many streets are cobblestones with medieval buildings but styles vary with Gothic, Baroque and especially Art Nouveau. It is based on the eastern side of the Daugava River. There are many churches, museums and squares. A great place to explore!

The old town of Riga is compact and packed with cobbled streets and interesting buildings.
Lots of cafes and bars to sustain you too.
There are great museums to discover, but the old town is really an area for getting a feel for the history of Riga, whilst wandering and (probably) getting lost in the maze of narrow streets and around the pretty squares.
Look skywards for a feast of fine architecture.

Great place to visit, would highly recommend when in Riga. Even though it was very cold due to it being December, i was still able to find myself appreciating the surroundings.

Nice and "warm" place to walk around. Good services and food.
Relatively easy to navigate. Some nice looking streets and sights.
As a one negative thing, we had big group so, it was hard to find breakfast place that would fit us all from old town.

So as others have already mentioned, Riga Old Town is best discovered simply by walking it. Cobbled streets, old buildings, narrow snickleways and a diverse history all make for a great stay topped off with some great restaurants and bars (sample the local balsams if only once). Best tow pieces of advice; boom one of the many walking tours and ideally go at Christmas or New Year for a truly atmospheric visit!

The old part of Riga is very nice. There is a lot of old things left to look at. There are historic buildings and a lot to look at. I really liked the old churches.

Old Riga is the highlight of a visit in Latvia. It is compact that most of the interesting attractions in Riga could be found here and walking distance from each other. Packed with restaurants and bars, Old Riga is a place you will definitely enjoy.

The old town of Riga is a true gem, combining various architecture styles, narrow streets, numerous churches and charming recreation areas.
You can easily spend an entire day exploring the old town.

Spent 6 days in Riga with friends and enjoyed soaking up the atmosphere of the Old Town. The area is a UNESCO Site and certainly deserves this status. The buildings are magnificent and well maintained. Many are free entry and where payment is requested, it is minimal.
The many cafes and restaurants serve food to a high culinary standard and we soon found that sampling the menus of the various restaurants was a great part of our holiday in Riga. Discovering the quirky restaurants in cellars and basements was an evening adventure in itself. Some also had entertainment so arrive early ie 6pm.
