Two countries in one day, amazing experience

We took the 6 hour trip to the Hill of Crosses in Lithuania. The long drive was so worth it. We stopped for coffee and cake on the way and for lunch in Lithuania on the way back. Our guide was so knowledgeable, it was a lovely way to learn so much about Latvia and its history. We have never seen, and will never see again, anything like the Hill of Crosses, absolutely unique, mesmerising and bizarre! It was worth the money and a way to see so much of more of Latvia, and of course travelling to another country in the same day.

Fav tour and wonderful guide !

Took the free walking tour with our guide Rita who was just brilliant ! We covered so much of the city and learned a lot about its history and culture ! There were about 18 -20 in the tour from at least 8 countries and our guide took the time to explain everything !
Would highly recommend this tour to anyone Visiting the city of Riga

Skip Hop On Hop Off busus, go walking with Smile Line

I made a private walking trip customised to my personal interest in Soviet era Riga. My guide was Liga who speaks fluently German. Guides with other languages are available. Liga showed me around many interesting places, she has great knowledge of history and is very happy to tell you anything you like to know.
It is advisable to visit the Museum of the Occupation of Latvia, both German and Soviet occupation before a wlaking tour so you have a bit of background before you set off on a walking tour.

Our guide was so knowledgable. She not only knew about individual buildings etc - she could knit the whole history of Riga together to give a much more complete narrative.

Perfect for those who do not want to get into too much details.
This is perfect for those who do not want to get into too much details but want enough information to not feel that they are looking at random buildings. Also, good for someone who do not want to visit the churches thoroughly (paying entry fees).

The tour guide was friendly. Would recommend if someone wants to visit Riga just for a day.

It is not so great who really want to get into the history of the architecture. Also, not for someone who wants to go inside the churches and buildings.

Overall, very budget friendly recommended for small group or solo travelers.

Great tour - Inara was a fantastic guide

Excellent tour of a beautiful city. Our guide Inara was incredibly knowledgeable, humourous, and engaging. The information was well paced and she was great at answering our questions! I would definitely recommend this tour to all my friends and family

Outstanding experience
Our trip guide, Irena, grew up in Soviet Riga and was full of stories, anecdotes, historic tales. She was very engaging and passionate. Highly recommend visiting Riga and the Baltic

Buy a guide book it’s cheaper
A very factual based tour with limited interaction with the participants. We have done many many walking tours in European cities and this was the worse to date. The guide was softly spoken and difficult to hear. She spouted lots of dates and facts and was obviously very knowledgeable but it lacked any depth and feeling. To be honest we lost interest mid way through and stayed out of politeness. Certainly not worth the money in our opinion

Tour of Soviet Riga

We took the tour of Riga in Soviet times with our guide Gunta. It was a great experience and would really recommend it if you, like us, come from a country unfamiliar with Soviet history, or just if you're interested in knowing more about the city and what it was like the Soviet occupation.
The tour felt very personal as Gunta told us many stories about her and her family during that period, showed us memorabilia such as personal objects, letters and magazines from that time and explained the transition towards free Latvia.
Overall, absolutely worth it!
