Riga Circus building was built in 1888. This neo-classicism building is considered to be one of the oldest circus buildings in Europe.

In the future, the building will undergo a major renovation. It will be needed. The building looked shabby on the outside.

Due to weather we wanted to have indoor program and had 2 kids in our group. Tickets were reasonable priced. Show is actually quite long having pause in the middle. Second half did have best performances.

Don't take a seat on first row, it is lower than stage.

If you want a circus that will take your breath away, don't miss this show. Yes there are animals but they seem well cared for and the performances were outstanding. Just how do you train cats to do that ?
The fountains are used throughout the performance but the fountain finale is spectacular.
We have seen circuses all over the world but this is one of the best. Well done Riga Cirks.

I went to this place last Summer and I have to say I was surprised that the building looks almost the same way I remember it about 15 years ago. Also not so sure about the whole concept of keeping animals inprisioned like this.

Top show with full action from the start to the end. The cirkus did not only have amazing animals but a beautiful watershow with colours. The best cirkus i have been to. The wiew from the back row was good. No need to buy the first row tickets. A lot of stairs if you are sitting upstairs. We had two good hours watching the show. Recommended !!

Went there on the weekend, quite busy. Tickets are reasonable / affordable - you have a good view from all of the seats. The building is old but has it's charme. They will not show any thing you have not seen before, still, I felt very entertained - it is just different. They have a changing programme containing all kinds of shows (magic, clown, animals ...). During break you can take pictures or whatever. They offer wardrobe service, enough washrooms and drinks & snacks. Enjoy!

I was with my husband watching Riga Circus Christmas show. The show included music, familiar fairy tale characters, Santa Claus and very good African dancers. In the show was also animals, like dogs, goats, monkeys and crocodiles and I felt sorry for them. There was quite much spoken Latvian, which we naturally didn't understand, but it didn't matter much. I think this show is better for families with children.

Memories from childhood brought me baxk here in hope to refresh them.I remember how animals where brought to lobby for pictures and monkey stole a piece of my ice cream. I've been twice recently and unfortunately arena was only half full and arena is screaming for renovation. However, good side of it is show.still liked it and would suggest to others.

The Riga Circus is the oldest fixed-site circus in Europe, I believe. It is in the very city center, and it changes its program twice a year or so. The last time I was there with my nephew/godson, there were illusionists from America of the "show an empty cage, put a scarf in the empty cage, put a cloth over the empty cage, spin the cage around, take off the cloth, there's a dog in the cage" variety. There are animals and clowns and acrobats -- everything that a circus needs. Other reviewers have noted that you can be very close to the action. That is true. The tiered seats come right down to the ring. On a previous visit, they had white tigers, and although they had a net up for safety purposes, the tigers were close enough to touch (I didn't). The building is fairly dumpy, it has to be said, but that doesn't matter. A visit to the circus is always a treat for kids young and old alike.

Keep in mind it's a historic building and a historic show, and you won't be disappointed.
It's not Cirque de Soleil, or Moira Orfei, but a peek into shows that were held hundred or so years ago when it was opened (well, minus the act on motorbikes).
In my opinion, the young ones will enjoy it the most, but I'm not sorry to have seen it.
You can see tigers and a lion, and many dogs and cats, you can take a photo with a monkey or a snake.
I particularly liked the dancing horse.

We arrived a little late, and we bought the cheapest tickets (5 lats), but were sitted in good seats, as the show was not sold out, so it is also a plus ;)
