Decaying building

The Dannenstern House dating from 1696 is located in the Old town of Riga.

The house was built by a wealthy merchant. It is considered one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in Riga.

On our visit, the building was in a very bad condition. Hopefully, it will be restored.

Very bad situation with building

Well, i can’t rate it low cause of it historical importance but it’s become MUCH worse situation with building since my last visit, very bad that local government have enough time to reconstruct occupation museum building (which was expensive, lame style, not historical) when real landmark dies😔

One of not very well known Rīgas landmarks

Solo

Personally i think that this house builded in 1697 is very underrated. In the past it belongs to famous and rich Dannenstern family. But now despite of many restorations it looks more fragile and endangered than many of maskavas forstadt buildings(which builded in 20 century). Not all guides concentrate tourists attention at this house cause they prefer to show “more bright” buildings. Anyway Dannenstern house are still huge historical landmark which represents latvian baroque and history so i think it should be visited by every foreign tourist
