BARaWINO

About
BARaWINO once and for all debunks the myth elitist and snotty wine drinkers. The wine shop-cum-bar was started by Marek Kondrat, one of the most famous Polish actors and now also sommelier with a big love of wine. He wanted to create a place, which would be friendly for all people interested in wine, no matter if professionals, or amateurs. BARaWINO is a place made for those who draw pure enjoyment of having a glass of good wine. The crew is a group of passionate wine lovers who would be happy to answer all questions concerning wine, from the origin of grapes, through the methods of making the beverage, to describing the whole wine aroma spectrum. When you're in a hurry, they will help you choose the wine that fits the occasion or the food. They just know how to get you into the wine world.

We were recommended this wine bar by our son who had come with friends recently. Lovely vibe, very chilled, attentive staff. We had three bottles over two visits, all of which were delicious and reasonably priced. We also had the cheese and charcuterie board which was great.

This was recommended by the ‘Porter and Sail’ app from our hotel and it definitely didn’t disappoint. At first, we thought it looked a little quiet however there were many tables reserved so looked like needed to book for a Saturday evening.

The carafe of house white wine was lovely and we sampled their mixed cheese platter which had cheeses from Poland, Italy and France. The only downside to this was the cheeses were not explained when they arrived so couldn’t buy them in the future but still lovely with the wine.

I stopped here as I had read it was a good place to try Polish wines —- which would be a first for me. I’m very glad I did. The staff was kind and knowledgeable, and offered some solid recommendations. The cheese and charcuterie plate was top notch as well.

Based on all the positive reviews, we went here to taste some nice wines. We arrived in an empty shop (which shouldn't be a problem at all) and where three people were working. At first glance it is a beautiful place with a wide variety of wines. But when it comes to hospitality, this place really offered us very little.

We felt absolutely unwelcome. We weren't even said hello. We sat down, but after a while we finally realized that the employees who remained behind the cash register did not get up for us. I looked at the (very extensive) menu, selected something and ordered it. We almost sighed that we ordered something and stayed seated. The music was turned off, employees were busy on their phones and invisible. While the people who came in to buy a bottle of wine were immediately approached and helped. Although there was little passion for the profession. We watched for fifteen minutes as these three employees did not say a word to us, did not even look at us and did not provide any explanation about the wine. We literally drank the wine reluctantly and left quite frustrated. We literally felt looked away. And then you step out the door and suddenly hear the music playing behind you.

Very unfortunate, but we have the feeling that there may be nicer people working in the evenings, it is a bit busier and the written reviews may be lived up to. We give two stars for the appearance of the business and the extensive menu. But we certainly won't be back.

Attractively modern and well-lit, lined by bottles upon bottles of wine on the walls with an impressive selection along with some good options by the glass. Appeared to be a local hit.

The main downside was the dour scowl with which you were greeted by the two staff for having the temerity to order a glass of wine, which somewhat soured things for me. Especially when I expected cheery, wine-based banter. Who knows, perhaps it was because we were foreign tourists.

One step and landing in France or Italy :). Very helpful, competent and friendly staff. Great snacks/tapas and finally wine in really good prices. Really recommended.

Great place for a refreshing stop after a long walk through the city.
They have a large variation of wines, we chose something bubbly.

Here is my experience of this place: So I approach the bar on a Friday afternoon/early evening, in late July--NOT on a Tuesday in mid January, mind you, to order 2 glasses of white wine. I picked up the menu on the bar, and stood there reading it carefully (I already knew it was self-service). The young woman behind the bar (a Brunette), did not say anything to me as I pondered over the wine list--even though I was the only person at the bar. When I ordered two different white wines from the list, she informed me that they didn't have those. Since, this is Poland (i.e., notorious for bad service), I decided to save myself some aggravation, and asked her which OTHER wines on the list were unavailable. I'm so glad I did; she responded that they only had a couple of choices from a very long list of whites. The ones she indicated they had were cheap wines, which I would have never considered. So, I walked out. This type of business and service incompetence is truly unfathomable :(

Great service! They will help you to choose what exactly you want according to your taste. Good selection of wines (but only one Polish and no South African). I think i will come back here if i will be in Krakow again.
and for price (if to compare to Saint-Petersburg - perfect!) =)

P.S. no food here

Big selection of wines. You can buy bottles but all glasses we tried were perfect. There was live music on Sunday, which we liked a lot.
