went to auschwitz,took about 1 hour to get there.great english speaking guide,very knowledgable,learned a lot.harring/humbling experiance.loads walking,various places were stairs to climb,i am an amputee managed ok,can be uneven terrain in places.all in all great experiance,pleased we went.

Hi Helen, to answer your question yes there is a lot of wooden stairs, 1st stage is approx 380 steps, with 3 stages 800 steps in total, but all descending, and a miners lift to return to the surface. As a lift goes up so too it must go down, there is disabled access as I saw signs to indicate so. It may be an idea to check tourist office or mine itself to clarify and find out times to suit, as salt mine is well worth a visit to see some amazing sculpture. Enjoy your trip
