This is one of Poland's holiest places of pilgrimage. The Black Madonna has been venerated here for centuries. What often stuns or shocks visitors who are not used to such pilgrimage sites is the apparent chaos and lack of reverence. It is something to be...More

We have been wanting to come here for many years and it did not disappoint. The Mass was such a spiritual experience and a must for all Catholics. Maybe a little bit too much pomp and ceremony but it didn't detract from the overall wonderful...More

Visiting Our Lady was an emotional experience for me but I will concentrate on providing practical advice. We took the train from Kraków, fast and easy. We took a taxi from the train station to Jasna Gora which was worth the 18 pln, remember that...More

Visiting the Black Madonna in Czestochowa takes most of the day from Krakow. It's about a 2 1/2 hour drive one way. My husband and I were the only two people booked by Comfort Tours. Our driver, Sebastian, was excellent, providing us with lots of...More

We visited the monastery the day after the Pope celebrated mass there and tripped and fell. But everything had turned back to normal. All the areas were accessible and the monks were very welcoming. They gave us holy cards for free

We lucked out - having a great local priest guiding us, who had both good English and a terrific personality. He took us to some areas not normally open to the public. The church is very crowded at most times and you get only a...More

I have a detailed review under Czestochowa, but in short, do not miss it. It requires half a day from Krakow including travel.

We picked the right day to visit the shrine. The WYD is happening in Poland at the end of July 2016 and we were moved to see so many pilgrims old and young coming to pray at the shrine. The devotion of the Poles is...More

This is quite a fascinating site. A lovely church housing a very special exhibit. We went there on the way to Krakow. It is a small and extremely crowded church and the highlight is the so-called Black madonna. According to local legend St Luke himself...More
