Neighbourhood: Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.

    Easy to miss
Seven foot Sigmund Freud is hanging from atop the roofline. He's easy to miss if you don't look up but when you do see him, you'll see the quirky art that Prague is famed for. Absolutely inkeeping with Cerny's style of sculpture, it's playful and interesting. This is exactly why you should look around as walk through the city, rather than looking down at your phone.

    Sigmund Freud
Down the narrow streets of the old town, make sure you look up. You'll see a statue of this man suspended from a rooftop over the street. It is meant to signify his fear of dying. We missed it the 1st few days having walked under it at least 3 times.

    An aerial novelty
This is a hanging sculpture of Sigmund Freud. Its interpretations are quite varied, depending on the particular source accessed. One such interpretation: Freud had a severe phobia about his own death - should he hold on or let go. In the end, I think Freud chose assisted suicide. (Apparently, he also had a fear of heights.) Another interpretation: The powerlessness and hopelessness of man in the modern world, but not willing to let go. Why the subject is Freud may be related to the question of what role intellectuals would play in modern times. Whatever the interpretation, the structure is certainly novel.. Situated along Husova Street. If you’re heading down towards Charles Bridge from the Old Town Square, along Karlova, keep an eye open for Karlova’s intersection with Husova. Turn left and keep going until Husova Street becomes Na Perstyne (~ 210 m.). Then look up.

Very very interesting and fun also. Worth a stop by for a look and couple of photos. It is located on Betlemska Namesti, very closed to Betlem Chapel.

I found that statue very fun to try to locate and to finally find it was satisfying. Prague has many statues sprinkled around the city and this one is definitely one of the best ones in my opinion. It’s very close to the city center as well so very easily accessible.

The hanging man above your head is Sigmund Freud, who was born in Freiburg, which is now part of the Czech Republic.

It looks like he is about to commit suicide, except he is just hanging around watching the world go by. You might easily miss this artwork if you don’t walk with your head up.

There are lots of good statues in Prague and this is a very cool statue way up in the sky in a very unusual position.

Prague is a great city to visit with its lovely buildings , bars etc . It also has dotted through out a number of quirky and surprising attention catchers . We found the man and woman with the umbrellas by chance and after that we learned to look up as well as ahead because you didn’t know what is round the corner and the hanging man is just one of them . I’m sure there is a story behind it and it is one I will investigate .

Unusual "statue" of a man (they say Sigmund Freud) hanging by one hand from a pole above the street. Unless you are out looking for it, it's likely to surprise you when you come across it. Fun!

I like to find destinations to venture through town to make you walk through new places and discover other new things. We found this spot in our way to the man hanging with the umbrella.
