We've visited King Johns Castle many times. Just to look around and once when there was a special festival to commemorate the time when King John walked from there to Runnymede to sign the Magna Carta in 1215

Although we have so many National Trust properties and so many registered historic sites throughout our beautiful country, I must say that the Odiham Castle stands out in my mind; perhaps because we live close by, not sure! Odiham Castle lies on the Basingstoke Canal...More

Visited when walking along the canal path; easy, safe access; small ruin with adequate signing, especially helpful for visitors to the area; small grass area for picnics; excellent for photography;

If you like this sort of thing its an interesting albeit small ruin. Massive walls, interesting history which is adequately noted by the local council. On a sunny day, pack a picnic, park in North wanborough and wander along the canal to the castle. Pretty...More

Not worth planning your day around however a nice walk down the canal will lead you to this castle- lovely to sit down and watch the sunset
