Our tasting at Jurassic Ridge Winery, was conducted by its colorful geologist/neurologist “founder, viticulturist, winemaker, cellar door pourer, sales manager, tractor driver and odd-job man,” Lance Blumhardt. The vines of Jurassic Ridge are planted atop 155 million-year-old rock formations which gradually break down, giving the...More

I've been meaning to post this review for a while now as the visit to Jurassic Ridge made a big impression on me - mainly along the lines of "how not to conduct a visitor experience". Its a lovely place, nice setting, very nice wine,...More

I visited here back in 2011 not April 2017. I ended up shipping back to the states 2 cases of wine from all over NZ. I’ve since drank all but two of those bottles. Tonight I opened up the 2008 Syrah and it’s delicious!!! And...More

We visited in December. The owner was in charge of the tasting. A clearly knowledgable man, he seemed to struggle to deal with novices asking apparantly stupid questions. By the end, he had mellowed a little, however I feel he needs to be prepared to...More

So pleased we stopped here. We thought it had the best red wines we tried in Waiheke. Owner is passionate about wine and the environment so was interesting to talk to. Will order wines from here in future.

We stumbled upon this great little winery while cycling round Waiheke Island. A much smaller scale operation, the cellar door was opened just for us. The winemaker was extremely informative and a really interesting bloke. Would love the chance to go back!
