About
We offer state-of-the-art flying fox ziplines and an eco-immersive forest walk for nature lovers of all ages. With a complimentary pick up from the island's ferry terminal at Matiatia Wharf, or from Oneroa Village bus stop if you're already on the island, you'll enjoy a "mini-tour" of the island en route to our site on Trig Hill. Upon arrival and welcome at our visitor centre, you will be checked-in, geared up, and readied for one of Auckland's most eco-friendly activities! Three 200m dual flying fox ziplines will fly you smoothly side-by-side with a partner, friend or relative down into a stunning tract of original and regenerating native 'bush' (forest). It's a scenic interpretive walk back to base, where you'll learn about local flora and fauna and the conservation of our spectacular natural environment. With a choice of drop-off locations afterwards, we'll make sure you have plenty of things to do on the island!

We went on Christmas Eve and from the moment we were picked up to the moment we were dropped off we were completely looked after. The bus drivers give you a little tour of the local area on the way to the ziplining site, which great as it gave us an insite into beautiful Waiheke that we would not have otherwise had.

When we got to the site it was a quick weigh in (it is private, only the guy behind the scales sees the weight) and then straight into the gear before going up to the first run. I am terrible with names so unfortunately don’t remember any of them but they guy and gal who took us were enthusiastic and very chatty. They put everyone at ease as we did the zip line in pairs, with me and my partner going first for the second two runs.

Each run is a little longer and higher than the last but they were all exhilarating and I wished at the end I could do it all again. You feel completely safe too as the equipment and safety elements are all top notch. The walk back to base is great too with plenty of stops along the way to talk about the fauna which was really interesting, and great for someone who is not as fit as they should be (me :)).

After you get a choice of going back to the pick up point, back to the ferry or be dropped off at a winery, which is the one we chose, and again our driver was great, really warm and chatty. He recommended the best winery for lunch and man was he right, it was amazing. I highly recommend doing this if you are going to waiheke, it is a great way to spend a couple of hours with a great bunch of people.

We were staying in Oneroa so were able to get to EcoZip Adventures under our own steam rather than take the shuttle service. I saw the great reviews and thought I'd like to try it but due to my fear of heights, was concerned it would be too terrifying. Having popped up to the venue to take a peak at the operation, I felt ok to proceed to a booking. Me and my 14 year old daughter booked to give it a try and had the most fantastic time.

The whole experience lasts about two hours, commencing with a very easy and efficient briefing and kitting out. There are free lockers with padlocks to leave larger bags and other unnecessary belongings. You can take phones/cameras, glasses, wallets and bottled water with you either in your pockets or in a small secure bag that is secured to you out of the way but accessible. You can buy water and icecreams at the venue.

There are three different ziplines, each getting higher, steeper and faster. For those concerned with heights, probably the first zipline is the scariest because it is more obvious how high you are at the start. However once you set off, it's so much fun that you forget your fears. Obviously the heavier you are, the faster you go. Only those between 30kg - 100kg can do it. If you are on the lighter side (my daughter), sometimes there is not enough momentum to get to the end, however the guides are skilled at collecting you in and pulling you to the platform. If you fear you are going too fast, the brake at the end stops any of these issues. It all seems very safe and very well run. Two people zipline at the same time, so you may want to partner up or not as if you're going with people you know, it's then difficult (but not impossible) to get a photo of the experience.

Once you've finished your three ziplines, there is about a 25 minute walk up through the forest to return to the start. It's super interesting and beautiful scenery.

The whole experience was so much fun and I'd recommend to anyone to give it a go.

Kia ora and Wow! What a comprehensive review. This feedback is just brilliant and I know will be greatly valued by other would-be zipliners and particularly any that are harbouring any worries about the height, speed or braking on our lines. This review is so comprehensive, in fact, that you could be writing our website or brochure copy! Only one thing to adjust is that top weight limit, which is 125kg (or 275lbs). Thanks for this invaluable feedback and commentary. Warmest best wishes Gavin and the EcoZip team

My husband and I booked in for the ecozip whilst visiting the island for a few days of relaxation before heading back from a 3 week honeymoon travelling across NZ! The team we’re friendly and the booking process was easy. We arrived and were given a full brief by the team. The views over the zip line are breathtaking and it was an activity I’m glad we both did. Fun and thrilling. We were aware of the walk back before booking but a few others in the group moaned about it on the way back - however, the team make it really interesting, stopping off at points of interest and letting us know about the local natural area. Very pleased we booked it - we got some great pictures and memories.

If you like zip lining, this needs to be in your list of things to do on Waiheke. It is good for younger and older kids as the zip lines gradually get longer and more stunning. The walk back through the forest is also stunning with an informative guide teaching you about many of the native trees.

I can't recommend EcoZip highly enough - it was loads of fun with the kids and for the adults too. Our staff Sam and Kayla were fantastic, they really made it such a good experience with their kind friendly approach and their interesting commentary on the bush walk back. The boys (aged 13, 11 and 9) rated it as their highlight of the holiday.

The facility and staff were excellent including the bus drivers who were very informative on the history of the island. My teenage kids got to face a couple fears and walked away very pleased with themselves. Great day out thank you.

Amazing experience! Tour guides took their time to make us feel safe during setup & orientation - especially appreciated as I am afraid of heights. The views are absolutely incredible. Zip line guides were very knowledgeable about the island, its history, and its animals and vegetation. Shuttle service was super easy to find off the ferry, and our driver was friendly & funny. Highly recommend!

The parents sat this one out, but the actual ziplining looked really enjoyable and fun.

1, you need to book it in. This is not a spur of moment activity!
2, allow about 2 hours.

Bookings are kept tight, no more than 12, there is a safety briefing at the start, and there are 3 zip lines to traverse. The team doing the work are very good and very safety conscious, and we had no concerns at all.

Once you’re at the bottom, it’s about a 25 min walk back to base. Good shoes recommended, along with reasonably good clothes. Shorts and a t-shirt with jandals really isn’t the right sort of gear.

Obligatory photos of the group and the each pair available to purchase of course! $327 for 2 adults and a teen.

G'day from Waiheke and thanks for this top review. We're often asked why we recommend allowing 3-hours for our experience, which we explain, just as you've done, that it's actually three experiences in one. We're thus really stokes to read your analysis that ours is a 'Top Experience' Thanks for the feedback and the commendation to your fellow TA users All the best Gavin and the EcoZip team

We had a great family morning out with an easy pick up and friendly driver to start our day.
Instructions and set up was smooth and then a terrific experience with friendly and helpful guides.
We would certainly recommend this and having 2 zip lines running next to each other made it more enjoyable.

Hi Scott Thanks for your feedback and thanks, particularly, for pointing out the dual ziplines which, as you discovered, turned a usually solo experience in to a social one. Thanks again, both for visiting us, and for leaving your feedback all the best Gavin
