Sunrise is the perfect time to stroll along the beach. The cooler temperature and low wind conditions are ideal for a walk or run.

Loved the beach. Didn't feel like you were on top of everybody as everyone spreads out. Even when between the SLSC flags, there's plenty of space. Clean and picturesque

Great for swimming. Life guards on duty which is encouraging. Lovely to walk along the beach after a swim. A fascinating jetty at one end ....really popular with tourists and people fishing. Close to accommodation and cafes. Lovely to see little nippers learning the skills...More

We really enjoyed our time at Palm Cove Beach. Really clean beach and well organised lifeguard monitored swimming area. Vast beach with lots of room for your own space. Very nice shops and cafes adjacent to the beach.

We stayed at The Palms at Palm Cove some 3-4 minutes from the beach. Unlike the Gold Coast where the water is clear, the water at Palm Cove is a little murky. Nevertheless it is a great beach fringed with palm trees for shade. The...More

Beautifully warm water for winter. The beach setting was amazing and the water was so inviting! A lovely clean and bright beach too.

This is a lovely stretch of beach, with some shade provided by very tall palm trees along the length of the beach. Behind the beach are numerous shops, bars and restaurants, so the area is pretty self-contained. If the water had been crystal clear and...More

Had a swim between the flags. The sand was soft under our feet. Although the street was busy the beach was a great place to relax. Most days were windy, typical for winter although the days were warm in the sun.

Spending about a week in Cairns, I went to Palm Cove three times. I clearly recommend taking the local bus from Cairns. A return ticket costs just under AUD 10,-- and the ride takes about 40 to 45 minutes. Buses usually run a bit late,...More

Kathleen, I think the response from Lou Charlie is perfect. The only thing I can add is don't be put off visiting Palm Cove because you can't swim in the ocean. It's a gorgeous spot with a variety of accommodation options... More
