Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The beach is beautiful and either well known or more well known as there are many tourists on the beach. The far end of the beach to the left, the water is calmer for young children. The beach is beautiful and one of my favorite places as of yet! Enjoy, however, take with you any garbage you bring or even more, take a piece out with you. It seems the area/island garbage service may need some refinement...

My son loved this beach so much he asked to go back a second time while we were at Las Terrenas. He loved the waves (although we do not surf). While we were there the waves were really strong and the flag was hung red, so you have to keep an eye out for the little ones. We park at El Mosquito Hotel and get some drinks and sit on the beach. We also like to take a walk east to a little cove area where the waters are calmer for my younger daughter. The second time we were at Bonita, there were a lot of surfers in the water so it was quite entertaining watching them learn.

Much too wavy so not safe for bathing or swimming because of the strong undertow. Good for surfing only. End of beach it is calm. Allot of erosion as well and also not a grocery store nearby if staying for awhile ( remember can't drink DR water) and captive to expensive restaurants

A beautiful beach, with the eastern part characterized by a small stream that flows into the sea. Behind the beach there are beautiful villas, which unfortunately take up a lot of space with their sunbeds, but there is no shortage of areas to lie down freely with your own towel. There are two bars/restaurants on the beach, in the west area, my favorite is Cayuco, where you can eat with your feet directly in the sand

This is a beautiful beach but if you are not staying in one of the hotels you are not allowed to be on the beach. 30 empty chairs on the beach and security said we aren’t allowed to be there.

We were asked to leave the beach.

Pictures posted show the area we were at. Don’t bother, they were rude and disrespectful.

Very quaint community. It has all of the things you would expect. It is s tab bit "touristy" and we are more of private people, but the area seems to attract people that want the same so the inhabitants were very docile.

We only stop here on a break for a bigger day the following morning. There is a very cool B&B in the beach that is an old school bus converted to a small apartment. Genius ingenuity. If you are okay with sleeping in the natural elements, it is a very unique experience.

We went there as we read great reviews. Honestly, abandoned beach full of grass and stones, little shade, lots of ants.. Playa Punta Popy next to our rented appartment was 1000% better.

Rented a home. Short walk to the beautiful beach. Friendly people, good food and drink.
A lot of housekeepers speak Dominican only, but they were patient and we figured it out. The food was so fresh and delicious. Perfect weather all week. Didn't want to leave, but are going back this year.

The water was fantastic and not too hot/cold. It is really close to various hotels and there are some bars on the beach front. There was a little seaweed but it was manageable. There are a ton of chairs as well.

My family and I went around 10 and the time was perfect. If you are not staying at a hotel nearby, there are public portions of the beach as well.

I have been visiting playa Bonita for 3 yrs. now. All my visits up to now were with family/friends. Unfortunately, a visit by ourselves proved to be scary and we were victimized! While swimming in the most beautiful water in an area called Punta Bonita, our beach bag was stolen. This stretch of beach is in front of the private home we rented. It is a gated community compound with security guard. We were led into a false sense of security, because it is an upscale area. While I screamed ladron (thief in Spanish). My husband tried to run after the thief. He was soon joined by other dominican men working in the area, who tried to help. They were unsuccessful in catching up to the thief or recovering our things. The first responders, are beach security on motorcycle. They don't communicate with the village police who are suppose to investigate. The village police are so laid back it's a wonder they don't fall asleep standing up! The reason I am sharing my story is so this doesn't happen to other vacationers. Playa Bonita is an incredibly beautiful area and if you enjoy the beach in front of one of the restaurants you will be fine. Safety in numbers!
