- jaculin BGold Coast, Australia172 contributionsArrowtown bike tour - self rideWe got an electric e bike today. This is a must do experience OMG the scenery is amazing. We picked up our bike at lunch time 12pm and rode the bike to Gibson Winery for a 2pm cheese and wine tasting tasting. What a beautiful scenic ride, past the Bungy bridge and onto the winery. After the tasting and a couple if bottle of wines to take home, we rode onto the Tavern For a yummy woodgire pizza. We got picked up from the tavern at 4.30 pm which was perfect timing. They pick you up and uour bikes and drop you back to Arrowtown. I would recommend 1 hour to stroll if the town. What a fabulous day trip from Queenstown. Would highly recommend. Thanks Team for choosing Arrowtown Bike Hire! Hope to see you again soon. - Simon B1 contributionThe place to hire bikes for your Arrowtown to vineyards cycle!Great bikes for a family ride from Arrowtown to the wine country - we did 40km's out & back on the trails, with a short stop to rest and refuel, on the half-day hire. Even though there was a sign indicating they were booked out, Aiden and the team managed to get us 4 bikes of good standard (including the nice touch of a little bag across the front handlebars for your mobile, wallet and trail map) and at a good rate. Friendly people to deal with + provided good guidance on directions and what to expect on the ride. I would hire bikes from Arrowtown Bike Hire again.Nice 40KMS!! how good!! Its always good food after a good ride :) well deserved. Very friendly, patient and helpful service from Adin and his team. We took eBikes and we were glad we did, could probably have done the ride on regular bikes but it might have been more of a slog than a treat. We did a longish loop, down to the bungy bridge and into Gibston valley, then back to the bungy bridge for coffee and around the twin rivers track, picnic by the river then up the lower Shotover and home via the countryside trail, through the very smart golfing resort called Millbrook. Scenery gorgeous the whole way, the Kawaru gorge and the Shotover delta were highlights. Bikes were in great condition, we got home with at least 50% battery remaining so no need for any range anxiety.Awesome, we are happy you had a good ride with ease :). sounds like you went to all the good spots!! We would highly recommend this for a great way to explore the Arrowtown and Gibbston area. The team at Arrowtown Bikes are easy to deal with, we were in and on our bikes within 15 minutes. The bikes are in good condition and there is an easy to follow trail from Arrowtown following the beautiful Arrow River Trail and out to Gibbston. The trail is easy to manage and easily achievable with a 1/2 day rental but a full day gives you more time to stop along the way.

We tried e-bikes for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The bikes were very good and the instruction on their use was comprehensive. We did the route to Gibbston Tavern and back and managed it in the 4 hours we hired them for. Would like to try a circular route next time.

If you are looking for a circular route we would recommend a loop around Lake Hayes :)

This bicycle hire business is located in Arrowtown and easily accessible by public transport from Queenstown.
I elected to hire an electric bike after reading other reviews and this was a good choice for some of the trails out of town.
The bike was well maintained and helmet supplied as well as a bike lock to use when leaving bicycle at shops or an attraction.
I also paid $2 extra for the gel seat cover as I hired the bike for the day (6hrs in winter)
The service was excellent even accommodating a last minute change due to a flight cancellation from Auckland delaying my arrival into Queenstown by a day.
The trails around Arrowtown are good to ride on and ventured out to AJ Hackett Bridge jump and explore the rivers and open countryside.
I rode the Arrowtown River Bridges trail that includes a couple of suspension bridge crossings and the Bungy Jump (original AJ Hackett) where you can stop and watch people doing the Bungy Jump when operating.
A complete introduction on the electric bike works and a map of the trails was supplied.
An excellent way to see the countryside with the ability to stop when and wherever you like to take photos, rest.
Just remember to take some water and food to consume throughout the journey.

We chose a lovely winters day, sorted out very quickly and accomodating to the different sizes or changes we may have needed from our original online booking. Hire was easy and we chose to stick to the river trail with 3 young kids. Would have completed it but our littlest man was battling with freezing fingers (bring gloves if coming in the winter!!!)
Next time for the winter we may hire a little later as it was just a bit cold still at 10am midday would have been perfect. Also bring gloves I just didn't think of it! My eldest asked if next time we come down we do it for longer so it was a WIN for the family!

Hey Kasey,
Thank you for joining us for a ride and thank you for putting up some great feedback for future clients to consider. Yes it can be cold, and that is one reason our winter hours are 10am-4pm.
Some days are colder than others and that is to be expected. Today is very mild with no frost! As I mentioned we do have gloves for sale, (and I did suggest that morning having a coffee and starting your ride a bit later). I expect you where on time constraints.
For riders comfort we also rent wind breaker jackets to help keep riders warm and clean. These can be added when booking through our website or at the shop. So future clients, please be assured we are super flexible should you wish to slide your booking due to weather or temperature. And yes unfortunately the best clear winter days normally start with a frost! So Kasey, for taking the time to write a review I will give you 50% discount when you come back for that 'longer ride'. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Adin and the Team.

We took 29 year 6-8 children biking along the Arrow River trail. Adin and his crew were so helpful, had fantastic bikes and did everything they could to make our experience enjoyable. We highly recommend them!! A huge thank you from Duntroon School.

Duntroon School rock! It is super cool to see so many kids (and helpers) getting out and exploring our fantastic trails. It puts a smile on our teams faces also. See you again soon with the next school camp! Adin.

A highlight during our Queenstown visit - 18 of us (aged 15 - 75) had a fantastic time cycling the Arrow Five Bridges Trail and part of the Gibbston. Half on e-bikes which are worth every cent (I wouldn't do it any other way). Platter & wine tasting at Gibbston Winery for some and Pizza at the Gibbston Tavern for others. We used the shuttle collection service for those that didn't want to cycle back. Everyone happy! Plenty of advise & support from our Arrowtown Bike Hire host. Will do this again.

Hired two bikes from here on 2 January 2024. People are pleasant and helpful enough but their bikes aren’t maintained. If they want better reviews, they need to spend some time making sure their bikes are in acceptable (roadworthy) condition before hiring them out to paying customers. We had issues with tyres, gears and brakes - all substandard. We rode with a couple that hired 2 bikes from the other bike shop in town and they had zero issues - much better bikes in better condition.

The bike was in great condition and ready to go. The gearing was efficient and easy to operate, without clicking noises. The admin process was very efficient. They also offered me a padded seat cover which I appreciated.

Don't tell everyone about the padded seat covers! But yes, click 'Gel Seat Cover' when booking your bikes on our website to get that extra luxurious ride! Great day-made easy (and comfortable!) All the best, Adin.

So glad we called these guys because online said they were closed. Aidin such a cool dude funny as a fart! We did the trail from Arrowtown to Gibston Tavern so wow. Hubby booked a standard mountain bike and I hired a E comfort bike. Bikes were fantastic and easy to use and the lovely Aidin picked us up and took us back to Arrowtown after a pint and a yummy cheese roll at the Gibston Tavern. This is so worthy even if you are amateur like me HIGHLY recommend this fantastic day. Thanks Aidin and yes are funny!

Hi, I am planning for cycling begins at the Kawarau Suspension Bridge to Gibbston the 'Valley of Vines then back with bike shuttle. How long is the cycling trail? Thx
Written 21 October 2019
Hi! We recommend cycling from Arrowtown to Gibbston Valley rather than starting at the Suspension Bridge. It will take between 1.5-2 hours. It is a beautiful track and you can order shuttle and return to Arrowtown by pick up. The trail is very family friendly to ride. Hope this helps :)

Hi,
Just wondering are there bikes for all ages or can adults fit children on their bikes? We have two children 6 and 4 years old and would love to go but dont think they can go too far so I would rather go with options of having 2 bikes and riding children
Written 22 February 2017
Hi there
Thank you for your inquiry.
Yes we have bikes suitable for towing your children.
We have a trailer which would carry your 4yr old and a tag along which would suit your 6 year old. The tag along enables the child to pedal like on a tandem and then they can rest when they want to. We also have bike seats for younger children.
Many thanks
