Bush Creek Trail

About
This is a new walking track for medium to fit walkers. It takes you through native forests, similar to the Routeburn track. There is a stream running throughout and it's beautiful. It is still in the making but the track well formed as far as it goes. Takes about 1-2 hours return. One of the best around and easy access.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Ignore official timings and descriptions as the walk has been extended or improved recently. Took us almost 3 hours not 1-1 1/2 hrs to get to the saddle where the view is...but the walk is in itself is well worth it with the view at the end being the icing on the cake. We were lucky to see paragliders and hang gliders swooping close above us as they jumped from coronet peak. Walk back downhill was 1hr 50 mins not 1 hr 30 as signposted and we are brisk walkers...

You can do this in any weather. Not a native bush walk but the trees are still attractive and provide good shade in the summer. In the river bed coming from Arrowtown stick to the pipeline to avoid the meandering rough tracks. If you have good gear and reasonable route finding skills there are good spots to go off track.

Love this walk, esp in summer as your in the shade, walking through forest for the majority of it. It's a good walk, steep in places but beautiful, esp when you reach the top and look out over the Wakatip basin. My grandchildren have walked up to the dam, 5yr old loved it.

There are many places to enter and exist this walk. We did the full track at a leisurely stoll enjoying the river from both sides. The path is wide enough for 2 to 3 people . One needs to be aware of those cycling, and dogs. All the dogs we met were very well behaved and seemed to love going into the river at various places.

An easy walk alongside the stream which is quite picturesque and passes through woodland and open spaces. Beware of the Sandflies, they are vicious so spray before you go

If you're not an intrepid trekker or big track walker, go walking the Bush Creek Trail. Park your car in the car park below the Arrowtown shops and walk alongside the bubbling creek amongst the trees. Take a picnic, or some yummy food from the Bakery, and enjoy the peace.

Just follow the river upstream from town and at a junction with the gully track go left. Great hike following the creek through a small canyon. The trail crosses the creek several times. Watch the hillside for wild goats.

The pristine creeks and rivers in New Zealand alone make it worth going there, and this is another walk worth doing on a clear day

With a scoop of ice cream, took a lovely stroll down the river. Well kept, friendly passers by, great conclusion to the day...
