The Lakes District Museum is situated in the heart of picturesque Arrowtown. The museum houses a fantastic collection of artifacts and information about the history of this gorgeous district. This museum is very well presented in both exhibits and information. Well worth a visit to learn about the area, its beginnings and past and to see how it has developed into the town it is today. Great for kids too for school projects.

This place is a little gem. Much of it is given over to the mining days and those exhibits are both fascinating and unique.

We were still wet from our walk and found this by accident. Unusually you have to pay 10 dollars. It is well worth it as it gives history of Arrowtown and it's mining history with many artefacts and histories of various individuals. I liked the...More

A nicely put together museum. The focus is on what life was like in the mid 1800 to early 1900. A good history of the immigrants from Europe (Mainly the UK) Chinese immigrants for the gold rush. A hour should be sufficient time. Your entry...More

The museum boasted a shop, art gallery and museum. There was a small charge to visit the museum. There was an art exhibition featuring works of a Chinese artist which were large , realistic but not available to buy. Prints of his work were available...More
