The Lakes District Museum is situated in the heart of picturesque Arrowtown. The museum houses a fantastic collection of artifacts and information about the history of this gorgeous district. Suitable for all ages, the museum is fun for all ages as we take a 'hands-on' approach to our displays. Take a wander around and don't forget to peek into all of the nooks and crannies so that you don't miss anything! The museum is also the Information Centre for Arrowtown and we can help you with any advise that you need about the best way to enjoy Arrowtown and its surrounds.

I loved this museum. I attended with my son on a reasonably busy Saturday and we were both caught up in the history of the town but also pre history of local wildlife and the Moa in particular. The sets were great and realistic. Well...More

The museum is next door to the Arrowtown bus stop so we popped in to check it out.. It cost us $10 each and we spent about an hour going around the various displays. We really enjoyed it, it's packed to the max with interesting...More

One of the best Museums we have visited in years. A 'must see' if you are in the area and plenty to keep you occupied for ages. Fascinating insight into the history of the area and town ....

This is certainly worth visiting. The displays are varied and interesting, with items to attract adults and children alike. If you want to stop to read about and ponder all of the exhibits, allow a couple of hours for this. Good value for the admission...More

The free public access to the gallery was very good. Magnificent display of artworks. Information about Arrowtown activities was comprehensive.

what a great stop - steeped in history and large connecting rooms. we found the basement area a bit dark and hard to read some of the information , but a huge surprise to learn more about the area!!!
