Decided to drop by the info centre which as interesting but museum needed entrance fee of 10$ per adult. Decided to go for gold panning but no luck haha. Did that for half an hr and got bored.

Wasn't sure what to expect from this museum but it was well worth the visit. Great displays, all excellent quality, very informative. The horse buggys downstairs were impressive. Some excellent books too. and free wifi.

Great museum. Kids enjoyed the 'hands on' experience. Loved the exhibits. Would have spent more time here if I had the chance. Don't miss out on seeing this attraction on your visit to Arrowtown.

We called into the museum primarily as a result of it raining heavily outside. We're glad we did, as the museum had many informative displays that showed the history of the area over the past two hundred years or so. It took us about 45...More

We are pleased you enjoyed your time in our museum. Sorry that you didn't have any luck with the gold pans - the gold is still there but it's not easy to find! J

Arrowtown's history comes alive at the Museum. It traces the alluvial gold rush through a number of exhibits and dioramas depicting various occupations on and about the goldfields. It is deceptively large; it would be easy to spend a couple hours here. There is a...More

Thanks for your great review. One of the most frequent comment we receive is that the museum is much larger than it looks. We enjoy pleasantly surprising our visitors! J

Simple review, so much to see and do, don't waste your time, just go. Great info on the early history of the area and plenty of exhibits to ponder over.

I loved this museum. I attended with my son on a reasonably busy Saturday and we were both caught up in the history of the town but also pre history of local wildlife and the Moa in particular. The sets were great and realistic. Well...More
