Local history display at the time we were there was interesting, reflecting the development of the township back in the day. Friendly & welcoming staff

Gold panning was lots of fun
Feb 2021
Firstly, we visited the museum before heading out to the river to try our luck panning for gold. Loved the museum. Very informative and great history about the area. Gold panning was also lots of fun. Didn't find anything but the experience was thoroughly enjoyable and we got to explore the river at the same time.

Cracking Gold Rush Museum
Jan 2021 • Family
Brilliant small museum focussed on Arrowtown in the gold mining era.

Unlike other similar museums I’ve been to with kids they seem to recognise their value proposition and didn’t try and rip us off with a very reasonable family entry fee.

You don’t need more than an hour or so to get round.

Kids really enjoyed the interactive quiz as they went round. Thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a rainy morning

Small museum but gives you an idea of Arrow town and what life was like for early settlers. Also you visit will keep this place going for the future. Entrance fee charged at front desk.

Worth stopping in for a look.

This was a wee gem in Arrowtown. It was much larger than it looks from the outside. There were some interesting collections and well presented displays. A lot of effort and time spent on making this a real attraction.

Fascinating Museum
Oct 2020
Well worth the visit. Great exhibits and (obviously) a wealth of information on Arrowtown's history as well as that of gold mining in the area.

Nice section on the Chinese settlers, and plenty of artefacts etc from homesteads.

Fabulous museum
Oct 2020
A truly interesting and faithful recollection of Arrowtown's past especially that mid-late 19th century gold rush period that put the town on the world map. There is much to see and the collection of items from that period is staggering. Allow for 1-2 hours though to do your visit justice. Make sure you are there before 3pm as the museum closes at 4 o'çlock. Highly recommended.

Great little museum
Sep 2020
Very interesting and well laid out museum. Worth the entry fee, there is a lot to see, and they've done it all very well. Kids would even like it too. It gave a good feel of the history of the place. Excellent.
