Travel to Arrowtown via your own vehicle or use Connectabus which runs a scheduled service from Queenstown. The surprisingly extensive museum complex is set around 3 historical buildings including the town’s original bank. The exhibits present an authentic picture of early Maori, the harsh pioneering days of the European settlers, and the exciting gold rush era of the mid to... More

We visited Arrowtown to view the Lake District Museum! Do try and visit this museum. The museum is run by volunteers and has the most interesting articles and artefacts on this town and its history. A real gem. Don't miss a walk through the historic Main Street, well worth a picture or too. A real insight in to prospecting and... More

Visited this museum while on tour. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to do it justice. However what I did see of the Museum and the Art Exhibiton were really well done. A great little museum, well maintained and friendly staff. The Timeline of events in history was especially interesting

This museum is very well presented in both exhibits and information. Well worth a visit to learn about the area, its beginnings and past and to see how it has developed into the town it is today. Great for kids too for school projects.

This Museum is a must we were on tour and missed a lot, but thems the brakes hey! A lot is to do with the mining history, but well worth a look around. What we did see was amazing and the building is also interesting to explore as well.

This place is a little gem. Much of it is given over to the mining days and those exhibits are both fascinating and unique.

We were still wet from our walk and found this by accident. Unusually you have to pay 10 dollars. It is well worth it as it gives history of Arrowtown and it's mining history with many artefacts and histories of various individuals. I liked the idea it is located in the old Bank which itself played a big part in... More
