Hastings City Art Gallery hosted a fabulous opening night for Asaki Kajima 'Respiration ' ...exquisite organic art works featured in the centre of the gallery ...delicious wines by Clearview Winery and generous tastings from Anissa at La Petite Chocolat ..well worth a visit as two other comprehensive exhibitions in the two gallery areas .

Maori art done with a difference, I really enjoyed it. The skulls that had been beaded and decorated like masks were simply fantastic, so creative and innovative. Almost like traditional art some of them but with a modern twist while others were simply art, stand out and well worth a look.

Took visitors from overseas. They were interested in NZ culture and enjoyed looking at the paintings, sculptures and exhibits. Have previously taken a school class there and they found it very interesting too. Regular change exhibits. Friendly informative helpful staff

An excellent little gallery! When we were there, there was an exhibition of local artists work, which was really diverse and fascinating. A wall in the entrance hall was set aside for people to sketch something of their own.The kids thought this was really great fun. Outside is an area set aside for Maori carvings. Well worth a visit if... More

Nice building, friendly staff but I thought they needed to have more on display. Took us only about 20 minutes to see everything!
