Bay of Islands Tall Ship Sailing on 'R. Tucker Thompson' Including BBQ Lunch

193 reviews
Top off a trip to the Bay of Islands with a sailing adventure aboard the “R. Tucker Thompson.” You can help hoist the sails on this tall ship, a replica of a 100-year-old schooner. It’s ideal for exploring the bays and beaches of the maritime park. Catch a complimentary ferry from Paihia to Russell and enjoy a barbecue lunch provided on board.

Very interesting exhibits - model of Endeavor, for instance -- local artifacts, and history of this delightful touristy spot that was once the capital of New Zealand.

It’s a small museum but has some modern touches with videos and projections. Lots of really interesting history and a large model ship.

Lovely little Museum set between The Strand and York Street, featuring local artifacts and history, a must for all visitors to this gorgeous and historic little town. Very reasonable fee, small souvenir shop and lovely grounds. Make sure you explore the exterior too, the gardens are well kept and incorporate the remains of the cottage of Tamaki Waka Nene, one of Northlands most respected chieftains.
