We were a party of 12, staying at Eagles Nest for three days, looking for some adventure, while in Russell. We were recommended to contact George & Olivia, at Edge Fishing...hey we wanted some fish, George we were told would deliver. A bold claim, but 'lo and behold.'.......Kingfish and snapper were caught, gutted on departure, and eaten that night. We hired two vessels for the half-day, departing a little after 7 am on a calm, sunny morning, an idyllic location, with Edge Fishing Charters. What a fabulous experience, a great decision, made for a most memorable, professional experience. Well done, thank you guys, from the dozen celebrating a three-day 70th birthday.

Great boat, excellent skip, wonderful scenery, especially on a clear winters day when the mist comes down to the shoreline and the sun slowly burns through. Our party of five caught decent fish - more than enough to feed a party of seven for three dinners (and a nice mix of species). I got my biggest snapper, so thanks for a good day George, appreciated.

Last week we did 3 days fishing with Edge Charters, and rented their Blue Penguin Cottage in Russell for our week long visit to the Bay of Islands. With me were my son Jamie from Perth, and Brothers-in-Law Justin and Jim from Sydney. We are all quite accustomed to charter fishing, and the usual associated accommodation - but everything was an incredibly pleasant surprise with the Edge operations. The cottage was absolute luxury, with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, allowing peaceful sleep well away from the snorers, and the ability to rapidly get through morning ablutions to get out fishing as quickly as possible. As well as being most comfortable, all the extras, like sharp knives, tinfoil, gladwrap, insect spray, unlimited dishwashing tablets and laundry powder, real coffee, real milk by the litres, and even a packet of TimTams. Awesome little extra touches and absolutely no penny pinching anywhere. Then to the fishing, day 1 was a 75 mile run to the Bluenose grounds, a very long haul in pretty rough conditions, that the 9.7 metre White Pointer boat handled with ease. The long run there and back was rewarded with a very short fishing time required to fill the bins with some awesome bluenose, with the biggest at 31.5 kilos, by far the heaviest bluenose I have ever seen. The 2nd fishing day we all stretched our arms with some tough fighting kingfish - nothing particularly huge, with a 17 kilo fish being the heaviest, but the non stop action with these "thugs of the sea" was immense fun. The action was fast and furious, and we also enjoyed a by-catch of some excellent snapper and John Dory. The 3rd day was spent trolling in the hopes of picking up some game fish, but was not to be a lucky day for us. We dropped a couple of yellowfin tuna and also dropped what was likely a blue marlin, through no fault of the skipper, but more as a result of us all being relatively useless fisho-peeps! George is a phenomenal skipper on this awesome boat. He readily shares his knowledge and is a barrel of laughs as well, awesome company. Even the lunches provided were awesome, with different sandwiches, lovely home made bacon and egg pies, and a cute little touch of chocolate fish. Nothing in this operation is left to chance or taken for granted. George and Liv arranged for vacuum packed frozen bluenose and kingfish, and fresh snapper to be packed on ice in polysterene bins for the Sydney boys to return to Aus with, and Jamie and I to return to Wellinton with more than 20 kilos of fish in tow! The price was very reasonable, and when considering the quality of the boat, the accommodation, the fishing and the attention to detail at every step of the way, it made for an awesome week and some great memories for this group of very grateful and happy fisho's. Totally awesome experience and sincere thanks Liv and George - the ultimate hosts!

This is easily the best charter fishing experience I have ever had. Not only was the fishing fantastic with skipper George putting us on exactly what we were after, Kingfish,Snapper,John Dory, Yellow. We also loved his insights and tips into how to land your targeted species. Along with that we found George to be great company and a wealth of knowledge in relation to fishing sustainability. Olivia made certain that our stay on board and accommodation was first class. I live in Sydney and have never had a better experience than this at sea or on land. Many thanks to George and Olivia for the trip so far of my 40 years of fishing NZ, Australia and The Pacific. See you again soon. Justin and Jim.

And don't forget the Bluenose too! It was great to get out there targeting a range of different species over a few days. It was a pleasure to have you both on board. We're looking forward to your next adventure with us. Cheers, George and Olivia

What an awesome time out on the water with Captain George! The vessel is extremely comfortable with plenty of room. The experience and facilities advertised were spot on! We went out looking for snapper and ended up hooking 2 good size Kingys, as well as, 1 monster Kingy! Also hooked into plenty of snapper with 1 monster snapper as well! Overall it was a phenomenal time and experience on this charter! I would 110% recommend this charter!
