A day out on Phantom gives you a chance to get away from the crowds. This is adventure, relaxation and scenic beauty all in one with the personal atmosphere created by your hosts, Rick and Robin. Swim, snorkel and hike the island then enjoy a great home cooked lunch amongst the beauty of the islands on this great owner- operator boat. We sail out of Russell and Paihia in the Bay of Islands and are in our 23rd year of loving our job.

Totally recommend spending your day with Phantom Sailing. Everything was perfect, the homemade food was delicious and the way this lovely couple welcomed us in their “home”, was just amazing.
If you see a dolphin wearing some sunglasses let me know, it could be mine. :D

What a brilliant sail through the gorgeous Bay of Islands with über experienced sailors Rick and Robin. If you're reading this review, I urge you to stop reading and book your trip now. Highlights included the excellent company of the charismatic Rick and Robin with Rick recounting salty tales from his decades of global seafaring; the self-limited number of passengers for an optimal onboard experience; Robin's simple but superb lunch; and an exhilarating 'race' downwind in which R&R demo'd their deep local knowledge, skillful maneuvering, and ability to optimize every whisper of wind to our advantage. If you're looking for an authentic sailing experience rather than a tourist boat packed to the gills, this is it. In short, an absolutely delightful day on the water.

Absolutely beautiful way to experience the Bay of Islands, without a noisy motor and in a small group of lovely people. Thank you Robin and Rick for sharing your home on the water with us for the day and the delicious lunch.

We are a group of 8 professionals friends just in the bay of islands for the weekend and had an amazing time with Rick and Robin. Despite the cloudy grey weather, Rick and Robin brought us to the lovely cook island for a walk and a swim. We were then pleasantly surprised with the loveliest home cooked lunch made with fresh New Zealand produce. The couple’s kind and knowledgeable manner made the less than ideal weather seem inconsequential. We would definitely recommend spending the day out with Robin and Rick on this experience.

The yacht is very good looking. The hosts are friendly and happily answered all my typical land lumber questions. They both have a huge numer of hours sailing this yacht and their passion for sailing is obvious. We sat on the deck amidship for lunch and enjoyed home made focaccia, relish and local cheese and more. We chose not to go swimming even though it was offered,
as the water was too chilly for our liking ( i.e., 60F). By the end of the sail we felt as we knew our hosts for years.

What a way to kick off Phantom's season. Eric and Robin took us out on their first day of the season. It was a perfect day on the boat and in the beautiful Bay of Islands.
The trip is a 5 to 6 hour journey along the beautiful coastal lines with Robin explaining about culture and nature.
Rick and Robin prepared a perfect lunch with a variety of product. Thank you for your company and the trip, we loved it!

We had the best day! Rick and Robin are lovely hosts and experienced sailors so the whole day was pleasant and safe. We loved the strategic stops and the delicious lunch, and company was great with just the right size. Highly recommend!

Robin and Rick are very nice persons woth a big experience in sailing around the world. They have a lot of intresting storys to tell. We had a nice time on board. It was an relaxing day on board with a stop at an nice island.

We are on a cruise boat and only there for 9 hours max. Do you pick us up at the cruise ship? Saw reply below they should get us by shuttle to Russell's wharf. What if it is pouring down the rain and the water is rough? See you have a non-refundable price however it says it is to be paid in cash.

The cruise ship should shuttle you in to Russell's wharf and the Phantom leaves from there, so it should be easy! You do need reservations on the Phantom as they only take a maximum of 10 people.

Thank you for your inquiry. The trip aboard Phantom starts at 10am from Russell and returns at 4pm. We serve lunch on board, the cost is $110per person and payment is made in cash. We take a maximum of 10 passengers - the smallest and most personal trip in the Bay. Please view our website.
